Thumbs up Sting and Peter Gabriel Rock Paper Scissors Tour 2016

Peter Gabriel and Sting announce joint tour

Iconic rockers unite for North America trek

Sting and Peter Gabriel will hit the road across North America for the Rock Paper Scissors tour this summer.

The duo will play a string of 19 dates in June and July – having first toured together in the 80s for Amnesty International.

The duo also hint that they'll be covering and re-imagining each other's songs – and that they'll perform both individual and joint sets at each show.

Sting says on his website: “The interesting thing for me is what happens to our songs when they are juxtaposed with each other’s songs. What I do will change what he does and vice-versa. The songs we trade and the songs that we sing together will have an unexpected result, we hope."

Ex Genesis vocalist Gabriel adds: "For me it’s partly what sounds good in that present incarnation balanced with what people want to hear. You want to try and get both sides and throw in something unfamiliar as well as the hits."

Tickets go on sale on January 25. Pre-sale tickets are available via the Sting.com Fan Club on January 20.

Seems like a cool idea. Love both of these guys. But I was less than impressed with the cover swapping of the Scratch My Back stuff. Maybe I didn't give it a fair shake, will have another listen on a rail trip tomorrow. Or maybe I'll just never understand why people like shit like the Arcade Fire.

That is an expensive ticket. Don't get me wrong, I've seen both artists live in the past, Sting more so than Gabriel but even I won't do $250/ticket for my wife and I to see this. For the DCU Center show tickets range $45-$250. At $45 price point you may as well wait for the dvd because you will be no where near the stage to see it.

Same with NE Ohio. Just like the Heart, Joan Jett and Cheap Trick "Rock Hall Three For All" is playing Cincinnati but not... Cleveland.

I love some of the music these two have produced over their careers, if i am lucky enough to score tickets to this i will be pretty ecstatic. I've already got tickets for David Gilmour but missed out on Tool and Primus so i am due for some good concert karma. Hopefully neither of these two guys is on the reapers list this year, that damned bastard!

Would you expect Ed and Al at a "David Lee Roth" SOLO show?

I don't think anyone is going in with the idea that this is a The Police show. Sting wants to play his solo material as well right now. After the big 2007/2008 tour, The Police as a band is on some kind of indefinite hiatus. At least they did the reunion right and had all the original member, so you had that.

Like you, I also would rather see a The Police show then a solo Sting show, but it is what it is. I would pass on this Sting/Gabriel show as well.

    Hey stranger welcome back
