Default Tapping in 1965 - unbelievable!

Just saw this on Facebook. This guy was doing multi-finger tapping in 1965, and doing it VERY well! Shows what being born in the wrong country at the wrong time gets you. Can't believe this guy isn't as famous as Wes Montgomery!

    Yes, he's unbelievable!
I've seen that clip before, but am glad you shared it here again.

By now we all know that Eddie didn't "invent" the bi-dextral technique, but pre internet, stuff like this wouldn't have been known/seen by the masses.

Jesus Christ, that guy was sick!

Not only tapping, he was almost doing a funky, "Mean street" type percussive/tap thing.
Multi finger, plus tapped walking bass lines.

This guy makes Steve Hackett's tapping sound like, well, a hack.

Not to mention, this cat is doing multiple string tapping and often with more than just one finger!
Very creative and talented. I'd argue that this guy should've been more well known on the music radar.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but is this the same cat who was in that "Jan Van Halen" clip doing insane stuff (filmed like this in b/w) on a ukulele?

At 3:54 he starts playing a super musical walking bass line with the right hand while he's got the chords going with the left! How did this guy not become as well known as Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery or Charlie Christian? He was thinking a good 20 years ahead of his time.

If Ed Sullivan had heard of this guy and put him on his show in America, I wonder how it might have changed music?

It kind of makes me think of that scene in "Back to the Future" where Michael J. Fox decides to lay some Van Halen leads on the 1950's kids, and they stand there looking completely freaked out and he says, "Okay, maybe you're not ready for that yet."

I'd say he was Stanley Jordan's 'Uncle Manny' , LOL.

Complex stuff indeed. Way harder than the accepted intro to tapping - the triplet figures from Eruption. Plus, all of this is on a nylon stringed acoustic ala Spanish Fly!

When I first saw this, I thought it was a hoax! I thought some GIT guy recorded this last week and then used an Instagram filter to make it look old. Then I read the description and was floored!

I read somewhere that even when King Crimson was having a hard time breaking through in England, they could go to Italy and play to 10,000 people, and progressive rock is still huge there. I guess for some reason Italy has always been into more advanced music.

When I was a teen, there was an Italian game show on tv. There was a backing band ala the talk shows of today.
Anyway, the guitar player used to do "Flight of the Bumblebee" before the commercial breaks. He did it while looking straight ahead (robotic, but great technique) with a semi-clean tone. I always remember being blown away by that, as my picking wasn't near that level!

Point is, there's always going to be players out there who smoke. Even some of the greats have said that "the next big guitar phenom is some kid sitting in his room right now"
Scary, yet exciting to think about!
