    Default ltd gl200 sunburst tiger/kramer 5150

Hey, been wondering about the old-new 2016 axe from esp/ltd. Looks like a nice cheap alternative to high end esp "banana" sunburst tiger and - of course - all kramer 5150 projects. I know its reversed headstock and rosewood fingerboard but no everyone knows how to build a kit or lives in the US.

Howewer - with steiberger restoration in mind - do ya think that Ed will finally release kramer 5150 reissue? Of course i am talking bout a budget version. One thing that is bugging me is the rights to evh kramer - shape, artwork etc. They are split between Ed, Kramer and Unkert or what? Cause it is clearly visible that Kramer is avoiding using evh banana headstock shape, while esp/ltd certainly not... Any ideas?

Gibson/Kramer owns the headstock shape. Body shape it's really bugging special. Just a pacer custom body.

All legal issues aside, I wonder what a "budget" version of the 5150 Kramer would go for?

If that is true, why esp makes bananas on Lynch axes while kramer doesnt? I mean all Kramer headstocks are little bit different that those once used by EVH. Hence my sugestion that Ed or Unk might have something to do with blocking that move. When it comes to esp, they manufactured those headstocks for kramer in the 80s so they might have some kind of "wild card" for using this shape.

If Lynch budget axes go for around 500 bucks, why EVH can't be in the same price range? Finally, the striped series axes go for about 900 bucks. Frankenstein ot kramer 5150 - which one is more classic is anyone's guess.

I love Lynch too, yet I think that any EVH replica would generally sell more.

We know the Frankie (and several other Eddie axes) to be historic, yet the 5150 is known the world over... I'd think even a budget model/import would still likely have a hefty price tag.

speaking of Lynch, I've really been toying with the idea of having one of his Skull and Bones guitars built to my specs and put on layaway...

Because Ed is far more iconic than George Lynch.

I've seen those new Wolfgang Standard's go for about the same price as Lynch import models. I'm talking about the quilt top tremolo versions of the WG.

The 5150 guitar is just on a whole other plane IMO. Can't see an official replica being cheap...

Because esp used to make the necks for Kramer in the 80's. Esp, lasido and a Canadian sporting goods company called sports made them all. Kramer never made their own necks. Esp took the design with them when Kramer folded in 1990.

Few interesting things come to mind:

1 While people usually favor CVH over "Van Hagar", Franky seems less respected than 5150 Kramer.

2 Kramer released "the 1984" model few years ago, clearly referring to EVH. They choose the diver down artwork instead of stripes (obviously), maple fingerboard and even went with the stripe on the back of the neck, yet they STILL didn't make the headstock the way it should be.

Juliet: - The headstock looks enormous
Romeo: - I hear that all of the time.

Just think about it. Have Kramer made the exact copy of the axe - minus the 5150 artwork - they will sell them like pancakes. Lot of people will be happy with them "as is", while all an EVH maniac will have to do would be painting it (with red Schwinn bicycle paint

3 ESP guitars have banana headstock but it is reversed. It wouldn't be strange but the actual tiger sunburst model Lynch used to play back in the 80's had classic non-reversed banana headstock and i have never seen him sporting the "reversed tiger" both esp and brand new ltd version.

These facts allow me to guess that both esp and kramer are afraid of copying the actual shape of EVH Kramer, and I am not talkng bout the stripes artwork. I am pretty sure they are afraid of lawsuit and that's the reason the headstock looks completely different (Kramer) or is reversed (ESP).

Last but not least - the price. I am truly not sure what will bring Ed more money - signature model for over 4000 usd or a budget version in the 500-1000 price range, but i suppose the latter will cash more. That applies to other rock stars - both Vai, Satriani or Hetfield all have their signatures below 1000 bucks. Come on, how many say I and pay five grounds for an axe? Keep in mind I live in Poland and most of us US guys earn at least 4-5 times as much as me. This reminds me EVH's s most well known rants:
    - He used a lot of effects, and I couldn't afford the wah wah pedals and fuzzbox.
    - My playing style really grew from the fact that I couldn't afford a distortion pedal.

Now, EVH sells everything, from guitar picks to 100W amps. Things change.
