Default EVH backstage article on GW

I've just grabbed the latest issue of Guitar World today, and I jumped immediately to EVH article.
It is certainly worth a read. I would've appreciated more pictures.
There's a full description of his rig and there's every setting on his equipment. Too bad no settings of PCM70: I was curious about it since I was a teenager..
If you have the chance, invest in this issue of GW.
Be ready for my new amp "III OSIS" produced by H^3 in stores soon [that was funny in 2006]

    Excellent article indeed!
I would have also wished for more close up pictures, details, etc... But hey! Always good this kind of article!
There is also a quick picture of the prototype III EL34...

Just grabbed it. I was surprised, I always thought he ran his Phase 90 at 9 oclock, it says 10.

Ditto. I started running mine at 10 o'clock recently and it does sound a lot better. I still run it at 9 o'clock for old Rush stuff.

I've always had my EVH Phase 90 at 10:00 since I bought it. Never sounded right in any other setting. It was funny to hear that's where Ed sets his too now. I'm like "hey I already knew that's where it sounds right." Haha.

Mine always starts off at nine but gets kicked around to 10 or so before I realize it.

    Really, eh? Hmmm.
I remember that old Curt Mitchel vhs tape where he said that Eddie had the Phase 90's speed knob set to it's slowest setting. Then he'd play an example (on a DOD phaser) that sounded pretty darned good! I always set my block logo MXR to minimum. When I got the EVH Phase 90, even the recommended setting was script mode at 9:00. I still thought that sounded off for some reason, and I continued to use the slowest speed.

Not arguing with you guys, just saying. I always presumed the phase effect to be really subtle. 10:00? I'll have to dial that in and see what happens! Haha.

    Neat looking setup!

2 questions - What do you think of the MXR Micro Chorus? Chomping at the bit to try one! I have a Boss CH-1 listed for sale/trade for one of those. One knob operation seems so practical.
    - The four button pedal in the front (for switching effects on & off), where did you get it? Just curious...

Oh that's old my board looks different now. The micro chorus is nice just realize with one knob you don't have much control. But for me I don't use chorus that much and it does sound nice for as infrequently as I use it. I think if I used more chorus I might be bothered by such little control. But it's nice for what it is.

The box at the bottom hmmm I forgot let me try to remember haha. I ordered it online.

Actually my board has the same stuff on it I just reorganized it and cleaned it up last year. Everything is on there straight again. . I did add an MXR Custom Comp I keep on all the time for sustain and better saturation, at least to my ears.

Interesting.... I was just thinking about my pedal board's lack of sustain, going into my little practice amp. Sounds pretty good (in my humble opinion) yet the notes die out sooner than I'd like. I don't have any brass blocks etc. in my guitars (yet! haha), so the Comp pedal helps? Cool.
