Dave has got a record in the can. He and John 5 put it together. I also think Gregg Bissonette was involved as well from hints he has dropped online. I think Dave wanted to record a mix of stuff and Ed wanted all Rock and Roll as he alluded to in the infamous Billboard interview. IMO, Dave wants to record new material big time, but Ed wants to control everything and it just hasn't worked between them. Perhaps it's fears of failure, but the Tokyo Dome album didn't help em any. We're lucky we ever got anything from them. I hope Dave releases the J5 album. I know it won't sell much, but I will be the first in line. J5 says it's great. I like his playing and believe him.

It's a tragedy. People just don't buy great rock albums any more. That's why Steven Tyler did a country album. Country still sells in America. Country fans still support their artists. At least to a higher extent.

My guess would be that it is Gold, it is supposedly close to a million world wide.

It costs money to get an album certified. Why would Interscope pay for it? Doesn't mean what it used to anyway. You hear about how many Twitter followers a band has before you hear about their album sales.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

ADKOT easily would have gone platinum without the internet. But with songs on YouTube and other online sites, album sales have seriously declined.

By comparison, The Foo Fighters greatest hits album (released in '09) just recently went platinum after 6 years, even as one of the biggest bands in the U.S.

Part of the problem is they didn't play Stay Frosty or As Is. I bet those would've been well received. They tried to do Blood and Fire but Dave didn't sound good on that one.

Radio didn't do them any favors - I live in the biggest Van Halen market in the US in terms of radio air play and I still haven't heard an ADKOT song on the radio.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

I've heard Tattoo once, and She's the Woman twice. That's it.

I am not sure why they didn't make Stay Frosty DLR's solo spot. Old habits die hard I guess, but I would always play an original over a cover if I had a choice.

Could've made it into a medley as well. Do the acoustic part of ICM, then talk a little bit, and then kick into Stay Frosty.

An Ice Cream Man/Stay Frosty medley would have been COOL!

Is there a concrete release date for this album? As far as I know there is just the one overly saccharine and feeble song attempt with the girl band thus far, that he has set up dates to tour with while leaving his Aerosmith brothers to scratch their .....!

Granted I don't feel sorry for them, as they have always kinda been his whipping boys, but it is more a tradgedy to me the way St chooses to glom on to country music to try and keep himself relevant. I realize he has seemingly been going through some kind of identity crisis, possibly his entire life, but I think his (reading between the lines here) plan to ultimately make his Aerosmith bandmates play his "country" songs will fail!

They have already been reduced to playing smaller venues in 2015 and I think the majority of quality fans have had enough of the over priced tickets and tired 16 to 17 song setlists. Honestly they need to just retire and stop doing the yearly cash grabs before they lose all credibility.

From what I've read, February of 2016 is the drop date. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't come out. I wouldn't buy it any way. The single only got to #19 on the country charts. We'll see what happens. I'm a casual Aerosmith fan. I have never seen them live, but I think ST has an awesome voice and it has held up. I didn't know their live shows have taken a hit attendance wise. They had a new album in 2012 as well and it sold like shit. 200k in the US or less. That's half of ADKOT. These guys just need to realize that their Platinum days are over. It sucks, but it's the new reality.

I will say this that when they played my city, they had She's the Woman in their setlist and it totally came across much better live than on that brickwalled, compressed out the ass mess on ADKOT. I actually thought it had a slamming groove from Alex. I had planned on making that song (as well as the next one China Town) my beer run, but decided to sit there until they finished that song.

I think that it would have been difficult for Dave to sing most of those songs live though. There's more words per song on that album than any other one, if not mistaken. We all know how DLR is when it comes to remembering words. Lol

"Stay Frosty" would have killed live if Dave could have pulled it off.

Yeah, that would have been a good one. I think the crowd would have responded well to it.

IMO, this one has the best guitar riff on ADKOT and would have sounded great live ...
