I don't know man, I didn't take a poll. All I know is that they got crickets when they played new material, and I never got that vibe on the older stuff, even the deep cuts.

Could also be a very simple reason we haven't brought up yet...the older songs are better.

Not quite, they would need a proper audio engineer to set things up 100%, and then also a mixing guy... but that's probably no more than $30,000 in service fees... petty cash for the Mighty VH

You don't think Ed has plenty of industry guys as friends, who would do it for next to nothing/free, just to help VH get new material released?

Yeah you're probably right, I'm sure guys would be lined up for that very reason you pointed out... but, I'm sure Ed, being a good guy, would want to pay them for their time and expertise anyway... it's petty cash for Eddie

I just think Ed is done, he feels he's delivered his full meaningful contribution to the rock music world and just wants to Jam for fun...

Watching Wolf develop is probably his major passion these days

Not to mention that Ed probably knows his way around the studio too!
Forget any III backlash, yet I'm sure between him, Wolf, and his/their techs - they could churn out something that sounds pretty darned good.

I simply don't think that Eddie is done. He's not his former prolific self, yet I honestly feel like there's more to come.

There are bands out there producing albums from their basement that sound great. No producer, no audio engineer. Just microphones, instruments, and a laptop.

Van Halen has a full fledged studio in their back yard, and has been a part of, or co-produced eleven studio albums, two live albums, and two greatest hits collections.

I think they could do it just fine on their own. If not, grab a couple of kids from Berklee College of Music and give them a chance to get a producer and engineer's credit and go from there.

My overall point is that cost is not the issue, it hasn't been for a long time. They don't want to do it, that is why they don't put more out.

Paul McCartney recorded an entire record, every single part outside of Linda's background vocals on a Studer four track, then took it to the studio, transferred it to eight track, and then mixed and mastered it himself. With 1970 technology. And some of those songs, like "Maybe I'm Amazed" are still played on radio to this day. A LOT.

With what we have available to us today, there really is no excuse for a band of Van Halen's stature to ever use money, or lack of sales for not recording. They simply have lost the desire to do so.

5150's board, recorder and outboard gear are a massive load and probably worth $2 Million... An engineer is well worth the petty cash at that level of signal path...

VH could have an album recorded by this weekend if they wanted to... It's so frustrating as a VH fan to think the music flowing through Eddie's hands is not being captured

Great rock 'n roll usually comes from youth, the hunger to succeed, and from bad times in the songwriters life. Misery seems to create great art.

There isn't any of that in VH.

They are no longer young, they have already succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, and they all seem to be very happy.

DLR Band CD from 1998 was made quickly on old school 24 track board. No time no bullshit get in get out record.

A little raw on the ears but nonetheless pure unadulterated rock of a specific moment in time captured on tape.

No reason any artist couldn't revert and acquire the same equipment used from old albums and do the same thing. Analog recording. 4 track. 16 track. Who gives a fuck.

Just record the tunes capture the magic of the moment polish it up in mixing then put it out.

    Never mind the bullshit.

But Yeah- Its a bummer they didn't think of the 2015 tour as being ADKOT tour part 2 they could've showcased more from the album. So much to choose from I can't take the time to point out which tunes and why but clearly there's a sad waste of an album laid in wrath there.

Only TWO songs Chinatown and She's The Woman?????

    Fuck Offf!!!!!

Shoulda switched out at least four more each night.....

Bullethead would've rocked the house big time

Stay Frosty!!!! Fuck they had t-shirts with the slogan why not play the fucking tune....

Any of the tunes would've worked.

Then- They dropped Tattoo which was supposed to be a hit displays a sense of relentment.

But- Of course it goes without saying Dirty Movies, Light Up The Sky, In A Simple Ryme and Drop Dead Legs makes up for not playing more from ADKOT.

Just have to ask yourself if you'd rather hear those four old previously unplayed tunes or more from the new album. It's a tough choice to please everybody they did a Damn fine job but yeah shoulda done more from ADKOT no doubt about it what can you say.
" On a scale that ranges from deep dark depression to rip roaring fun ... most people idle between pissed off ...and not too pissed off " DLR 1997
