    Default Four years ago today

I go to my in-laws every XMas, so I remember sitting at this same kitchen table the day after the big dinner in 2011 as I always do, just surfing around and killing away a lazy day, when I got an email that said "Van Halen - The Future"

I can't believe that it was only four years ago. Even though they toured in '07 I felt like that was the first moment the band was truly back together, officially announcing the new tour that would back a new record.

We hadn't heard ADKOT yet, seen the DVD with the interviews, seen the 2012-2013 tour, the TV appearances, the 2015 tour, etc. They hadn't even played Cafe Wha? yet... a lot has happened in these four years.

What I wouldn't give for another email today...

I remember when the ADKOT sample clips were posted online. It was a Saturday evening and I stayed up until about 3 in the morning to listen to them over and over.

A lot has happened in the last four years... A lot of great stuff, IMO.
I loved the record (still do!), the tours, the insane video clips of VH smoking their way through the tunes, the EVH gear, etc.

It's been a great ride for the most part. Even the Aussie fans got to see the band in person! Thank God that Ed's health scare was treated in time, and that he's been kicking ass (pun intended) ever since. I'm glad I've been a part of it all with some of the great fans on this site! Thanks for that

Eagerly looking forward to seeing & hearing what's next for VH

How awesome is Eddie's outro solo on the closing track to FW?

There's no denying the sheer genius of Eddie's guitar mastery on this record! Interesting and cool how he got very studio savvy on there too, and used it (the recording process itself) almost like another instrument to flesh out his vision. Love how he carried that over to the 1984 album as well!

I'd kill for an email like that again, or even another live album.

Tokyo, to me anyway, was really something magical. When they leaked Panama, I cringed, and I pasted them for being lazy and having too much drama to do a proper new album.
But when I got Tokyo, it was just so awesome, a raw live performance that I swear in the last 9 months I've listened too at least a thousand times on every workout.
The imperfections, the list, even Daves poor moments, I just love.
There is still creative juices in those guys, there is still magic. They can still do it, man I'd love to see a new album

I'd like either a new studio album or a vintage live album.

I still love Tokyo Live. Atleast it's a REAL live album, something very few bands actually put out. A blazing good time. I'd love to see a Hollywood Bowl live album.
