Default What is Van Halen's most underrated song?

My vote is for the following "deep track" from the very first album. This song has the perfect combination of rock and pop. It has a great guitar riff, a catchy melody, excellent lead and backup vocals, a killer solo, a vintage VH breakdown and a perfect ending.

"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you"

"Be careful what you wish for because you just might lose what you already have"

"Women and Children First ... The REAL Van Halen III"

"Feel your love," was one i've always really liked, way back when.
"Little Dreamer" was the flip-side, as i thought the "whoo-oooo's" sounded very Sean Cassidy-esque.

    For me, THE most under-rated?
    Hmmm....

    Gotta go with "Secrets."

I've always thought that song had a beautiful melody, breath-taking solo, and
gorgeous lyrics by Mr. Roth (her feet are making tracks in the winter snow..."

It's pretty, yet it still retains those old Vh hooks.

Love the "She got that rhythm" part, too.

I would argue that Little Dreamer is underrated. That is one of my favorite on Van Halen.

I really do think Feels So Good is an underrated tune. Maybe the keys need updating, but the rest of the song is really good, even those clichéd lyrics. It is just supposed to be a love song, after all.

The song right before Feels So Good on OU812 is underrated ...

    It is underrated.

Maliciously attacked because it's pure, unadulterated, pop cheese and I love it.

That song wouldn't even raise an eyebrow, if the band performing it wasn't a rock band.

    Perfect in every way.

Chris, if I didn't know better, I would swear you have a weak spot for Feels So Good ...

My pick was gonna be Secrets too, Jape!

I might say Hear About It Later because it's such a well crafted song and was never a huge hit except for live video.

Maybe even IASR because it was a missed radio opportunity. But still "Secrets" might be my final answer

honestly I have a soft spot for this song. I don't totally despise it. Take away my man-card if you want. Now...CSLY I despise 100%.

Secrets is great. I've always liked Ed's tone and guitar he used live on it. This is from Argentina 1983:

I would vote for Fools! Even though the lyrics are more targeted to those in their book learnin' years, with a little imagination, it makes sense for us working drones, as well. Big time swagger.
"Never is just reven spelled backwards." -House

"Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?" -THE Rob Gordon

Roth era: Feel Your Love Tonight
    Hagar era: Dream Is Over
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.
