    Default New History Channel favorites!

Over the last few weeks, I've found myself watching more and more tv. Maybe it's prepping for the winter hibernation? LOL. There's a flat screen in my jam room, which is also where my laptop is, for participating on this site with you all...

Anyways, I've found my self being really fond of two newer programs on the History Channel; The Curse of Oak Island, and Hunting Hitler.

Probably a long shot, but are any of you familiar with either of them, and/or even fans of either or both? My 'wife' is a huge tv buff, although she's more into the Criminal Minds/The Mentalist/Grey's Anatomy type of fare. I've always been interested in the unexplained/true crime etc. stuff.

The Oak Island show is kind of cool, because it purports to have a 'real life' treasure hunt mystery on Canadian soil.
The Hunting Hitler one is really intriguing, and presents a lot of possible clues that might rewrite the history books as we know them, after WWII...

    Thoughts?

OAK ISLAND! I thought I was the only one watching. WTF is going on in that place?

whatever, it certainly doesn't want to give up its secrets..is it King Solomons treasure or something from the Knights Templar or what

there is something there, obviously man made and obviously ancient an obviously built with the intention of protecting something...but how was it built, by whom and when and why?

I haven't had a chance to watch this seasons episodes...I have them DVRd and I'm going to binge watch them this month.

Oak Island is some deep shit.

The boys and I are addicted to Oak Island and have been watching since the series premier. I actually learned about the Money Pit from a kooky former neighbor who rambled on about it for a while one day in the yard. I later googled it only to learn maybe he wasn't so kooky (at least about that) after all. This was 5-6 years before the show premiered.

That being said, it is interesting but my boys have started referring to it as "What are they not gonna find this week?" due to the way they jump from one theory to another and don't seem to follow thru on any one plan to the end before they introduce another character's theory and start investigating it.

As for what's at the bottom? I'm pessimistic on anything being found due to the nature of how prior excavations were done without establishing/maintaining positions of known points of importance.

Been watching Oak Island too. Somethings gotta be down there. Who knows what?

But I don't think Hitler ever made it to Argentina. Stalin or the Israelis woulda found him.

I watch both from time to time. I think they make a bigger deal out of the supposed "evidence" than they should on Oak Island, but that's just me. The Hunting Hitler thing is going nowhere, but it makes for an interesting watch in that you get a better sense of how widespread Nazism was at the time, especially in Argentina.

I also wish the History channel would show more History, rather than reality shows with some minor historical elements baked in. Don't even get me started on that cesspool Ancient Aliens...
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

    Hunting Hitler meh.

Oak Island. Entertaining, although the skeptical brother annoys me.

The skeptical brother (Rick? I can't keep them straight) is the one bankrolling this extravaganza isn't he? Gotta say I'd be skeptical too if I was buying bulldozers, excavators and back-hoes on a hunch.

My wife watches Oak Island. I have caught a few episodes as well.

I hope they do find something, mostly just dead ends so far.

Also there have not been any spoilers on the interent about a big find, so I doubt you will get any payoff this season.

Since there is no baseball on, I have checked out some other History channel shows. I mean, my wife says I can't just watch MLB Now, Intentional Talk or High Heat 24 hours a day.....lol...

I caught a few episodes of "WWII in HD". Some great restored video, even in color. The assault on Iwo Jima, some dog fights over France and the push to Berlin in 1944. I also saw a few Pearl Harbor specials last week.

I agree that they go with to many reality type shows, but they have to make money and that is what a lot of people watch.

I hope they find something as well, although that would end the mystery surrounding it. I know what you mean though.
So far, it's been like 'Expedition Unknown' - interesting, yet ending up with no proof, only speculation.

    That's the thing.

If something big were ever to be found, it would already be known beforehand.

I tend to get excited over these types of shows where somebody is searching for something. Bigfoot, lost treasure etc but am always let down.

There is ALWAYS dead ends in these shows and always on the cusp of something curious. "We hit a wall", "the weather", "mechanical failure" and on and on.

    Still entertaining though.

I'm interested in those types of shows too!
Very avid fan of the Paranormal, Cryptozoology, etc.

Never a definitive answer with those shows, but yeah, thought provoking and entertaining!

I'm a sucker for crypto shows, ESPECIALLY Bigfoot-related!

    Hope springs eternal.
