Default Is "Don't Tell Me What Love Can Do" hypocritical?

I was just wondering because on all their previous albums they were telling us what love can do, but now all of a sudden he doesn't want to hear what love can do as if we wanted to hear him telling us for years. lol

You're kidding, right? Your tongue is placed firmly in cheek?

Sometimes sarcasm is difficult to pick up on a web forum.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Look, first they wait for love, then they want to know why it can't be love, then love walks in but they don't know when it's love, but it feels good, so they do it until they're black and blue, then it's gone so they spank it and yet they can't stop loving her so they don't wanna hear what love can do because in the end it's all Deja Vu, they get in touch with their feelings, I mean after all we are just humans being

As with most of Sam's lyrics I don't wanna hear about later.

Sammy actually wanted Don'the Tell Me to be an upbeat song. He wanted it to be Let Me Show You What Love Can Do. Eddie wanted him to go darker. Sammy talks about it in Red.

Not sure about the lyrics and meaning, and that's coming from a Sammy fan! LOL.

I DO know that I love the song (no pun intended), the incredible music, and the overall vibe and power of it. One of my favorites from Balance.
    Probably my favorite
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - a very wise fan.

Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do) really is a fantastic Van Halen song. I actually like the darker vibe and tone of the music and lyrics. It is a quality song all the way around.

Yup. Ed was write to push Sam. Sam does need pushing and outside influences (Ronnie Montrose, Neil Schon, EVH, Satch) bring out the best in him.

Cue the "Push Comes to Shove" video collage...

Sammy was RIGHT to push Eddie too. It brought out the best in Eddie.

Yes, Ed's groundbreaking work on guitar was done from 86-95. I gotta admit you're a kick 1way!
