Default Only read if you're into The Hagar era.....

I write that headline cause I don't want no bashing. I like Dave, especially the 6 pack years, but I prefer The Sammy years. It's just my opinion and because "5150" was the first VH album I heard and it will always be my favourite.
Here's my time to vent....feel free to throw in any opinions, but I repeat no Dave/Sam bashing. I'm simply over it.

Next year is "5150"s 30th anniversary. This album next year can't be ignored. NO WAY!!!! Ed has to do something for it, even if it's something small. I'm not asking for a tour, or for Sam and Ed to record again. I can't see those 2 things happening anyway, which is a sad sad shame, but at least re-connect and give the fans something that we deserve.
The current incarnation has been going nearly 10 years, and I have respect for ed for keeping it going, but, the Hagar years are being totally ignored. He's erased the whole time of hangars innings with the band, which is childish and not the way to deal with it. The fans are demanding at least something from these guys.
The world is falling apart with enough hate and anger as it is. It's full of judgement, etc and with this ISIS crap people are living in fear.
The boys are in their 60s and Sammy nearly 70. Life is too short, and these guys HAVE to do something for us. I'm really over it.
I love listening to all my Sammy era albums, watching bootlegs of shows, interviews. It makes me feel good, but also sad cause I will never see these times again. But I have great memories yes.

All I ask is for Sam and Ed to sit down, re-connect, and maybe remaster "5150", or put out the full "Live without a net" show unedited, with a interview, maybe "Unleashed" on the end. Just something...
......and do a interview together, and put it out there.
Surely, Wolfie knows how the fans feel. He got his dad to re-connect with Dave. Nows the time for Sam. Please!!!
Screw what sam said in his book about Ed.....life goes on. Just get over it ed......

    I'm with you.

I don't think Sam and Ed need to "reconnect".

What Ed needs to do, is embrace his entire career. Including VHIII. He needs to let go of the animosity. Sam talks shit but he also imo, would welcome Ed with open arms. Water under the bridge.

Ed should do that NOT because of reunions or hanging out together but so that, all his music can be honored. Imo, he's taking his indifference out on the music. That's wrong because on the one hand, they're his but they're also ours. We love that music. He's denying himself and he's denying us.

    For what? Dave? Wolf?

Ed has the power to make EVERY fan of this band happy. He chooses not to.

A remixed 5150 with unreleased bonus tracks would be sweet.

I think that's all I'm waiting on, from this band.

Some Sam era goodies. I really hope his wanting to play the Steinberger, gets him going in that direction. How can he pick that guitar up and NOT launch into Summer Nights?

Too many great songs from the Hagar era not to heard again one more time live.

After the mess that was the 2004 Tour do something special for the 30th Anniversary of 5150....

I just don't see it happening anytime soon sadly. Ed holds grudges and Sam hasn't exactly made it easy to forgive and forget the last 10 years or so. I think some people took the Steinberger restore and made it out to be more than it is...a restoration of one of his old guitars.

I agree. I seriously doubt anything will come of the 30th anniversary unless it's recognition from the media.

Of course, we've seen stranger things happen from this band.

NOTE: I am a fan of both eras of VH but lean towards the early years. As a 14 year-old, this album got played numerous times when it came out.

This thread pisses me off but not because of the content. Just thinking that its been 30 years and I am getting freaking old

Go for it Eddie and Sam

If you have some time Alex, sneak in there and rerecord some real drums on some tracks

Okay here is a scenario, They tour again with Dave, however this time they give Dave a 5-10 minute break in the show where say a Bass solo would have been years ago and do a medley of Hagar tunes instrumentally.
I know, Dave's ego probably wouldn't allow it but I don't believe Dave calls all the shots. If Ed wants to play those songs again live but not with Sam this seems like the only option. That or they tour as a 3 piece and Wolf handles the vocals.
I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass.

I am more of a CVH fan, but I wouldn't be opposed to something new from these guys if it was honest and without animosity toward each other or Dave.

Keep Hagar singing in a lower range and you'll hear better tonality out of his voice.

Yes, anniversaries are nice commemorations of history. That said, the 25th does tend to be a bigger celebration than the 30th, and five years ago 5150 got a two page thread on the links and a post on VHND. We'll see what it gets in March but I wouldn't expect much more than that.

While it would be nice to see something to commemorate the 30th anniversary of "5150", they didn't even do anything to commemorate the 30th anniversaries of "Van Halen" or "1984", and that's while the Van Halens were on good terms with Dave.

And they've done nothing to celebrate the 25th or 30th anniversary of one of the most acclaimed debut albums in rock history.

I think they should celebrate the heck out of 5150. What a terrific album. I'll buy whatever they are selling provided that any tribute includes Sammy and Mikey.
