    Default Easiest VH guitar riff??

My son has been playing for two years and he has learnt a lot from you tube. He's getting pretty good. Lately, he has been attempting some VH, but he says it is too hard, everything has too much of a stretch. He is only 5' 5" and his fingers aren't long enough. I told him in time the muscles in his fingers would stretch more. ?? (I don't really know)

Are there any easy parts to a VH song that he might be able to play? Thanks!

The guitar parts for Runnin' With the Devil are pretty straight forward IMO.
But yeah, I agree with ^^^ fudd, about YRGM and ATBL.

What sort of other stuff is your son playing?

Thanks guys, I told him to check out You Really Got Me, that's one that I came up with.

He loves heavy metal. I hear him talk about power chords, and chugging. He likes to play songs by Asking Alexandria. They have some pretty dark lyrics. Cringe worthy dark, lol. I will be so happy to suggest these songs to him.

He posted his first cover on FB the other day. Alerion by Asking Alexandria. If I knew how to upload it here I would. I'm so proud of him, he's a cool little dude. He has been through a lot in the last 4 yrs. When he learns some VH, I'll be so excited. Thanks for the suggestions!

Definitely Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love and Runnin' With the Devil. Panama is also kinda easy, too.

Panama is his favorite VH song! Very cool. He has taught himself everything from the internet and you tube tutorials. It's awesome all that info is out there. Thanks!

The night before last he was trying to play the intro to Hot for Teacher. He couldn't get the stretch from 3rd to 7th? fret. I sat next to him and held the string on the 3rd fret and let go then he'd tell me hammer on, Lol. It sorta sounded good just a little slow.

Just got to keep stretching out his hand, eventually muscle memory will help him make that stretch.

In addition to the 4 already mentioned,
The rhythm parts in these CVH songs are all very easy:

    Jamie's Cryin
    Feel you love Tonight
    Little Dreamer
    You're no Good
    Dance the Night away
    Somebody get me a Doctor
    Outta love Again
    DOA
    Everybody Wants Some
    Unchained
    Hear About it Later

I have the hands of a 12 year old which has hampered me for years. It takes a a lot of practice. I have to do some weird shit to play certain songs.

    Brett's right. Stretch.

    Default Easiest VH guitar riff??

I don't have big hands, I have long fingers, but I've had to work to make some of those big stretches. It can be done just takes time.

Some of those I just gave up on as I could never get the solos down like I wanted and I couldn't do them justice with my own versions. The rhythms are really easy, but those solos pissed me off! Ha! I think if I'd have started back when I was a kid, they would've been easier to learn. Tell him to keep at it.

Ed's solos can be very humbling you really have to immerse yourself in them if you want to play them like him. But it can be done.

ATBL and YRGM...... very simple. Also Panama is pretty easy too especially the main riff / lick.
