Default What are some bands you dig that are totally not in your normal wheelhouse ??

my main bands have not changed much since i was a kid.

    Van Halen
    Maiden
    Metallica
    Guns
    Pearl Jam

most of the bands in the same genre.

2 bands that i fucking LOVE that are seem way out of nowhere:

    Beastie Boys
    Duran Duran

loved them when i was a little dude also, love em today. just ordered 2 Duran Duran dvd's today of Amazon, inspired by the new single i heard on the 80's channel on Sirius the other day.

    whatcha got guys??

I had a brief (2-3 years or so) flirtation with the mid-late 90's goa trance, techno, electronica scene. Still like stuff like Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Prana, Tsuyoshi Suzuki, but if I listen to it, it's mostly the work they put out at that time.

Also like a lot of traditional world music, and modern interpretations of it. The soundtrack to Baraka gets a regular listen.

I was a big fan of Huey Lewis and the News back in the day as well.

    Flock...

Love that band to this day. I wore this album out, just as much as my VH and everybody else.

That was the great thing about our generation. We could love New Wave, Michael Jackson AND Rock!

I don't have a lot of bands' music in my collection ... but usually when I do, I've got the whole basic catalog. I don't necessarily go see them live, mainly I like albums.

    Artists I totally follow:
    Beatles
    Clutch
    Extreme
    George Harrison (& the Wilburys)
    Kings of Leon
    Kiss
    Led Zeppelin
    Metallica
    Joni Mitchell
    Monkees
Linda Perry (& 4 Non Blondes)
    Phish
    Pink Floyd
    Prince
    Queensr˙che
    Rush
    They Might Be Giants
    Van Halen & DLR solo
    The Who
    Yes
    ZZ Top

Artists I only sorta follow (but have a lot of their stuff):
    AC/DC
    The Band
    Black Sabbath
    Cat Stevens
    Creedence (... tapes?)
    Def Leppard
    Doobie Brothers
    Dream Theater
    Grateful Dead
    Hendrix
    Huey Lewis & the News
    Indigo Girls
    Billy Joel
Ozzy (conveniently under "O" alphabetically either way)
    Pearl Jam
    Ratt
    James Taylor
    Twisted Sister
    Vai

And I have just a little bit of:
    Queen
    Elvis
    Zappa
    Talking Heads
    Paul Simon
    Satriani
    Tom Petty
    Bob Dylan
    Fleetwood Mac
    CSN & sometimes Y
    Janis Joplin
    Edie Brickell & New Bohemians
    Blues Traveler
    Rolling Stones
    Cars
    Doors
    Les Paul & Mary Ford
    Peter Paul & Mary
    Leon Redbone
    Flower Kings
    Leftover Salmon
    Kevin
