Default THE MLB Hot Stove thread - 2015/16 edition

Ok, the Royals are champs, hopefully Steinbrenner's rolling over in his grave. But now it's time for the other 29 teams to figure out how they are going to beat the Royals (or the Giants). There's hardware to be given out, big bucks to be wasted and Hall Of Famers to be elected. And probably a rule about sliding into second to be implemented.

Hopefully the Marlins leave the lineup alone - I think they can win with Realmuto, Bour, Gordon, Hecheverria, Prado, Yelich, Ozuna and Stanton. Maybe if someone makes a good offer on Ozuna, take it before Boras overprices him. They need pitching, especially relievers who can get people out.

When I saw the headline, I thought it was an Onion article. Wow. What a terrible hire. I'd be raging if I was a Nats fan today.

A retread hiring. Not sure if this is going to pan out the way they want.

Yeah that hiring and Alex leaving really pissed off a lot of people. They were talking about it on XM and yeah it's bad.

Don't forget that the Nats actually named Bud Black Manager last week. They then low balled him with a weak $ offer. Black told them to fuck off.

Then the Nats turn to Dusty Baker. Odd choice in 2015. Dusty is a players Manager and a good communicator. His weakness is obviously pitching management. BUT he is also know to not be big on analytics, more of an old school guy.

Dusty did take the Giants, Cubs and Reds to the playoffs, so he does have success during the regular season. His playoff record is the not so good part.

Looks to be a mixed reaction from Nats fans: http://www.federalbaseball.com/2015/...t-drama-in-d-c

I don't think Cueto is back for KC.

I also think Zobrist is gone as well. I would love to see the Giants sign him to play LF and a little at 2B, but that is very doubtful.

I would think that Gordon would resign with KC if they give him a "FAIR" offer. It is hard to quantify Gordon's great defense into $ for his contract, so I don't think he will break the bank. I think he will get a good/reasonable deal somewhere. His .377 OBP would look good in a lot of different lineups.

I think zobrist is a good fit for KC. It'd be a shame if they lost him. They also need to keep Gordon.

They should go after Grienke. I know all the money they got from the WS should help get them some good free agents.

KC just hasn't shown they would spend big on FAs yet. They are usually mid pack in spending.

At 34 years old, Zobrist probably goes to a bigger spending team that can take a risk on an older player.

Greinke is probably 99% going back to the Dodgers. He is going to get a HUGE deal. Remember he just walked away from 3 year/$77 mil total per to get a bigger deal. Greinke is probably going 5 years at $27+ mil a year or something INSANE.....

The Dodgers HAVE to re-sign Greinke. He and Kershaw are the reason the Dodgers are at least in the hunt every year.

If Greinke leaves, the Dodgers are screwed.

Yep. They need to make some moves beyond just him if they want to get over the hump. But in the playoffs the bats failed them far more than the pitching. Kershaw and Greinke both pitched well enough for the Dodgers to win the series.
