Default Best of Both Worlds - by Midnight Oil

Aussies are probably already already familiar with the Midnight Oil song Best of Both Worlds which sounds nothing like the Van Hagar track of the same name, (although both are great songs).

The video is a little dated, but keep in mind it was made in 1984.

Van Halen and the Oils not only wrote a song of the same name, but also used that title for compilations in 2004. We all know about VH's 2 disc best of with the 3 new Hagar tracks. In the same year Midnight Oil released their Best of Both Worlds which was a set featuring two classic live shows from 1982 and 1985 on DVD, plus a CD of the same 1985 show.

What's more, these two concerts featured the Oils' former bass player. Sure it came out 2 years after the band had essentially split, but it would be cool if VH would release some old Roth era live DVDs featuring Michael Anthony when the band finally calls it a day.

Love me some Oils. Saw them live many times, from pubs to big arenas.

Midnight Oil were a great band. Here's to hoping the reform now that Peter Garrett has moved on from politics. He's indicated he would like to...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

After you posted this, I went and dragged out Red Sails in the Sunset and played it loud while working. Damn, that album is great. Even 30odd years later, it still sounds fresh.
