Default Nashville Drummers Jam 7 tributes AVH

Did anyone see this? This looks pretty cool. I wish I lived around the area as it sounds like a good time. I actually play drums in a top 40 country band in the New England area so I am familiar with quite a few of these drummers. Hopefully it gets posted online.

There's a lot of instrumental talent in Country......Al has to show up for his own tribute??? Might be a good road trip.

    Doesn't sound like he's going.

Alex is a different kind of guy. Won't play without Eddie at all. I wish he would do this. The kind of thing that could help get him the respect and credit he deserves.

That was great! It's really cool to see the Master get some well deserved respect. Fun to see Alex acknowledge it as well.

It is nice to see him get some recognition. I think last year they did Neil Peart. From all accounts of people I know that know Alex, he seems to be genuinely humble and very down to earth. I have heard that he does not take his posistion of where he is lightly. I think he feels incredibly blesses to able to still make music and have people enjoy what he does. I do wish that he would come to something like this but I doubt it will ever happen. he seems to be incredibly private and unless Eddie is involved, he does'nt come out. I would love to see him jam in a low key setting though! The Cafe Wha? show is probably the closest we will get.

I will say though I follow his son Malcom on instagram and while it feels a little creepy to follow a 15 year old kid I don't even know, it is awesome to see the pics and videos he posts. I have seen behind the scenes shots of Alex at the set from behind the stage angles that I have never seen before! Malcom also seems to have a talent for photography. If it was'nt for him I certainly would never have seen some of the cool shots I have!

I agree with this. Not the creepy part about you following a 15 yr old.. but Malcolm's photos are fantastic. It would be great if he got a collection together and released a book from the last tour.

It's great to see some recognition coming Al's way. 'Bout time too.

I'm sure he will attend the event. Hopefully Ed will be there too and they jam a bit.

    Congrats Reverend Al

A guy I know was part of a touring band in Nashville for 10 years, and he said the talent level there is unbelievable. He says some of the greatest players in the world are there playing in bars, hoping to be heard. He said it was very hard to put together a "just for fun" band, particularly if you wanted to play noncommercial music, because everyone's there seriously trying to make a living playing music.

It would be great if Alex would actually show up and shake some hands. When you blow off things like this and the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame, they come to you less frequently, and thus why your band isn't viewed quite as highly as maybe it should be.

While I would love to see Alex make an appearence, I doubt highly that he would show up. He has never done anything like that before and in his video he mentions that he wants to hear it from the west coast in between joking around with his horse. I am at least glad that he ackowledged the event and expressed his gratitude. Who knows, maybe Malcom can push him into making an appearence. That would be cool!

Looks like they are planning to use the actual tour set from this year for all the other drummers to use. That's pretty cool in itself!

Oh and BTW this is something special as most people don't just get to play Alex's actual drums. Not often anyway. Maybe in a few rare instances does it happen but to have Alex's tech bring and set up the actual set he just finished touring with is amazing. I'm VERY curious to hear how other people sound playing his drums. I would love to know if John Douglas(Alex's tech) will bring one of Alex's snares as well. I'm willing to bet that after watching other people play Alex's set, people will finally see that Alex has a sound unique to only him and his feel and touch are what create that sound. I'm betting the guys that play his set don't sound much like Alex at all.
