Default Van Halen Warner Demos Tabbing Project

Does anybody want to work on a community-centric open tabbing for the album? We can all share ideas of what we think parts are if we aren't sure, because a lot of these songs could be played different ways. I'd love to work on this with some VH-links friends. I can create like a open edit google doc or the like so each song could be collectively edited and viewed as changes were made live, a lot different than passing files around over attachments. Some really fun songs on here.

    Anyone interested?

Sounds like a great project, even though I won't be of much help.
Hope you get some takers, though!

First song for tabs? Get the Show on the Road
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - a very wise fan.
"Embrace the past. Live in the moment but keep your eyes on the future, and keep on moving forward..." - Richie Sambora

I have the WB demos on vinyl. I will try to help if I have time

I know it's not on the WB demos but I did figure out Woman In Love from the Gene Simmons demo pretty well.

    This thread reminds me of Ed's recollection (in GW magazine) of Dave's reaction to hearing the pre-ADKoT demos;
    "Let's get going!"
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - a very wise fan.

A lot of riffs in these songs are used, sometimes exactly, sometimes slightly modified, in later songs, so it's helpful to look at this.

I'm working on GTSOTR right now. I'll try and setup a shared document and link it here sometime today.

I'm particularly looking forward to Light in the Sky, We Die Bold, and Bad Women.

Most of the songs on the second half do show up in later albums, largely similar, so figuring this out isn't really the goal but can be done, I considered this more for the un-remasted/modernized material.
Heck, we can build the sequel to ADKOT ourselves.

Any vids of the unreleased stuff would be awesome. That goes for any Linkers who want to throw their hands into the proceedings!

Can anyone play "Let's get rockin" from the WB demo?

It's a fast, tricky riff, at least that chord hammer-on shape, he also used in RWTD.
    It's a common 70's progression (Funk 49), that damn hammer-on shape.

I was never good with that kinda progression, though i could jam Hendrix' Power of
    soul, which also utilizes that.

I will take "Light in the Sky" -- I freakin' love that tune. Jump to 2:15 if the link doesn't already jump there.

I really enjoyed that (the whole thing, not just LITS).

It would do some people some good to compare your playing to some of the "hotshot" young "prodigies" that people like to post playing stuff on here from time to time.

There's a mountain of difference IMO. When someone asks what it means to "feel" the music, I'd direct them to this. It is not sterile and cold, it has a warmth to it that those others don't. And there's no silly "mugging" for the camera which is fake IMO. Just a dude ripping on his guitar and enjoying playing just for the sake of playing. I like it.

    Nice job!
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.
