That Costa Mesa show was the first Van Halen concert I ever attended.

Bet you didn't know you were in the presence of greatness (me, not Ed)!

Anyway, that show changed my life. Within a week I was down at Guitar Center buying a cheap guitar and amp because I had to learn how to play guitar after seeing Ed in person.

22 years later while I don't have the record contract I was sure I was going to get, I have the memories of playing some great shows and having a great time doing it. I'm also a pretty damn good player too. (Seriously, go into a music store and start ripping. Kids start getting all wide-eyed because they haven't heard stuff like that before.)

Anyway, thanks Ed. I never would've become a musician if I hadn't attended that show in '93.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

It's been over 22 years since that show so I don't really remember. I know it was one of the encores, but I don't remember if it was the closer.

Why couldn't they have done, Cortez the killer?!

Ed could jam out on the intro & middle portion.

    I THINK SO!!!

I remember we were up in the lawn area and somebody lit a bonfire and a bunch of people were slam dancing to Van Halen covering Neil Young. Seriously.

I went to that show last minute. Day of show they used to release good tickets... ended up getting 2nd row and booking down there with a friend.

Yeah, they sure did close with that. My first VH show was in '93 in Pittsburgh and that was the encore. I loved the intro when Eddie was playing the riff while Sammy was talking about the homeless (after they raised shitloads of money for them on that tour with fans bringing in canned food) and how "we can only do so much and sometimes we just need to take a break and go to a fuckin' rock 'n' roll concert to get away from life and keep on rocking in the free world--it's good for ya! Yeahhhhhhhhh-aaaahhhhh-ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!" then Al and Mike kick in when they hit the main riff. I still think the "chung-chung-chung-chung-chung-chung-chung" riff is a precursor to DTMWLCD.

I've got a few shows from 93 with this on it and it rocks.
"Rocking my hometown" comes too mind real quick. I've got an Idea it was used as an encore at all the amphitheater shows on the U.S. Leg of the tour.
What is understood need not be discussed

"Dont disturb my paradise. I've asked you once. I've asked you nice" - "SERIOUS JU JU"

"I am in a blissful state. Dont bug me!!!" - Richard Dreyfuss "The Goodbye girl" 1977
