Got this in from someone at the VHML at yahoogroups:

>From: Mike Sutherland
>To: vh@yahoogroups.com
>Subject: [vh] Fwd: [VHML-Classic] UNBELIEVABLE VAN VAN HALEN NEWS!!!
>Date: Mon, 25 Feb 2002 14:35:12 -0800 (PST)
>
>from the classic list -- again with out the damn
>attachment.
>
>
>I guess the fat lady has sung her tune folks. Anyone
>anticipating this
>band to do anything in the near future can forget it.
>Rumor has it
>(and I
>don't post rumors unless...)
>that the brothers let Scotty Ross go. I'm fucking
>floored........
>
>Remember....you heard it hear first.

I have NO idea if it is true. I don't understand why, if it is true, they would let a valued member like Scotty go.

There was a previous email that was supposed to have an attachment with some "UNBELIEVEABLE VAN HALEN NEWS", but the attachment wasn't, uh...attached. So I can't tell you what this news was supposed to be.

I left the person's name in the header, but deleted his email addy, so people wouldn't think this was bullshit. I have never posted anything resembling a rumor since my enrollment here, so I hope that accounts for something.

I wouldn't be surprised by anything Van Halen is doing or not doing at this point. Too me it would be a bigger surprise if they released some new music than anything else they could possibly say or do. It's become quite obvious that the band isn't doing anything for the forseeable future. It sucks but that the way things are. God it sucks doesn't it?

Wow, if this is true could this also be the end of Brad Starks?? Could this be the end of VH for that matter. Let's keep this discussion going.

Okay, turns out that Scotty Ross, their god of a tour manager, has been let go.....supposedly.

Not sure if there's any truth to this, but if it is true, that's a real fucking shame.

Anyone that has had the pleasure of meeting Scotty knows what I'm talking about. He's one of the nicest people you could ever meet in the music industry, and would bend over backwards for you, musician or fan.

Either Van Halen have hired another tour manager, we hope, or they're deciding to start from scratch.

What it says to me is that they don't have any plans to tour... ever.

Well then maybe he will be tour manager for Tribe of Judah.

Sorry couldn't resist myself on that one. Bad joke I know, but its only a joke people. Don't start calling me a homophobe.

It probably is true. I had a "source" to the band who was a relative to Scotty Ross which is how I knew for a fact that VH had recorded with Roth in 2000. But he moved and I haven't talked to him in a year. Maybe I should try to dig up his # and confirm it when I get a chance...

If they let Scotty go, it really may be the end...

well, if he's the tour manager, and there's no tour planned...why leave the guy hanging around?

Scotty's more than a mere tour manager. He would go get things for them and sort of be an all-around "gopher" at the studio. He's kind of the head honcho in the VH day-to-day camp.

no offense to Scotty, but unless he's gonna umpire the backyard wiffleball games up on VH mountian or drive Wolfie to soccer practice, what's the point of having him on the payroll???

Yes its true Scotty is no longer in Van Halen as tour manager.
He confirmed this with me and says he is happy and actively seeking a new gig.
