Default Hollywood Bowl--best way to get there?

Park at the Bowl? Park nearby and walk? Park & Ride? Other options? This Jersey boy is heading west in a couple of weeks and would love some input to make the trip to and from the show as hassle-free as possible. Stop laughing...and thanks in advance!

I don't live in LA, so this may be a stupid suggestion, but check out the Hollywood United Methodist Church. They filmed part of Back to the Future, Sister Act, and a ton of other movies there. During most events they offer parking from $10-$30, and it's only a 10 minute walk from the Hollywood Bowl.

Default Hollywood Bowl--best way to get there?

Parking at the Bowl is a disaster. Your best bet is to park in one of the lots on Ventura Blvd. and take the shuttle back and forth to the venue. It's not free but it's the best $10 you'll ever spend trust me. And get there early so you can get a space! Trust me. Stay away from the Bowl and just do the shuttle. It's a 10-minute ride and most people do that.

Thanks guys! I've heard disaster stories for all things car-related from friends who used to live in Southern Cali and experienced some myself while visiting. I really appreciate voices of experience out here! I hadn't heard of the church thing...I'll check that out Jedi!

Brett, is there a cutoff time for the shuttle? As in, will I have to bolt when the band starts "Jump"? Or will there be ample time after the show is over?

Default Hollywood Bowl--best way to get there?

You can safely watch the whole show and then walk down to the shuttle. There are a lot of them, you will have no issue getting one to take you back. You get a ticket for the shuttle when you get on the first time, and you go on the same bus number going back. There's usually several for each number.

It really is a mess down there when there is a concert. Best to avoid driving around there when you can.

You could park at the Hollywood & Highland complex and walk up to the Bowl, or take their shuttle: http://hollywoodandhighland.com/visi...from-hh-center

You could also park at a red line Metro stop and take the subway to Hollywood & Highland and walk up from there.

    Nice one...

What Ron said. There are lots in HW that aren't exactly cheap ($20, I think? Maybe more...one off of Franklin and Highland, maybe the closest, or even the one McFly suggested) it's a nice walk up an incline - streams of people will be doing the same - and the weather should be about perfect for it around this time of year. Failing that, a shuttle. But not really necessary.

Btw, if you see an old hippie rock star lookin dude selling water on the way up by the gates, tell Jeff I said hi, haha. It'll be the best $1 you ever spent. I think it's $4 or 5 or more inside... Tell him I sent ya and he may hook you up with some cheap(er) brews, as well.

Also by the by, there's a Holiday Inn (I think it's a HI if memory serves) right next to the place. Doesn't get more hassle-free than that... other hotels across the street with nice patios, etc.

Unless you get there super early none of the things you guys suggested work. And leaving is a nightmare unless you cut out early. Trust me I've been there a lot over the years. The shuttle and the short ride is easy and much more hassle-free than walking or fighting the mess around there to park.

Yeah, what he sez. Especially about giving yourself *plenty* of time before the show to get there no matter what option you take to park, whether it's a shuttle-accesible lot or you're going to brave parking in one of the actual lots/fields adjacent to the Bowl. And remember, those lots closest to the Bowl "stack park" cars, meaning it's bumper to bumper to maximize how many cars they can cram in the lot so it takes *hours* to get out because you have to wait for everyone around your car to leave so your car can get out too.

I'll be walking up from the H&H complex. I don't find the walk bad unless it's hot and/or humid outside.

However, I agree with everyone - DO NOT PARK at the Bowl. It's horrible!

I suppose Brett knows best. While I lived in by the Bowl for a while and have seen the procession, I've never had to park there for an event and frankly have never been in the place other than riding my bike about and peeking in the gift shop monitors when Steve Martin was playing. Sounds like your on holiday though, so maybe getting into HW early enough to park isn't out of the question - ?
That said, My point stands that booking a hotel next to the place would be about as hassle-free as it gets. I haven't driven or had to drive since moving to Asia and that in itself is ironically quite liberating.

In any case. Cheers my dude. Sure you'll tell us all about it.
