Don't ask me why I was reading your post and my face was all covered in tears. please PLEASE DON'T sell the guitar under any circumstances, that is a big part of the reason why he stopped signing guitars IMHO. I don't know why I have a strong feeling the second guy is Matt. Maybe. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I would have waited until Eddie walked through and then I would have grabbed the guitar just below the Nut and with a Super Sledge Hammer Swing, I would have Smashed it on the floor of the Hotel and Yelled.."2004!!!! YEEEEEAAAAHH!! I JUST PAID YOUR SALARY!!! BOOOO YAAAAAAAh!

No, not really. But I would imagine it in my mind.

I was wondering which hotel also. But what I was REALLY wondering is how did you know they were staying there?

I had two things going for me with this attempt:

    1) The guitar is expensive. Even though it's just a Wolfgang Special and not a USA Custom, most collectors aren't going to invest $1000 in the hope of trying to recoup that on a sale later.
    2) MOST IMPORTANTLY - it's an EVH brand guitar. I'm 100% positive he wouldn't have signed it if I showed up with anything other than an EVH brand guitar. I've read numerous stories where he refuses autographs for other guitars (even old Peavy's and Music Man's). That's why their management said to me, "Thanks for repping the brand." when he handed it back. There is no way I got the autograph if it wasn't on a EVH brand guitar.
That's cool. You got yourself a once in a lifetime gift right there. I'd never let it out of my sight. Congrats.

I thought about doing something similar for my show but I don't have an EVH Wolf. I have a PV and an EBMM. I don't think he'd sign it as it can be seen as endorsement and I'm not sure he looks upon Peavey and EB favorably anymore. So unless it was REALLY personal and I got to meet him face to face and tell my story, it would never happen.

I am not going to announce on a public board where the band was staying. But here's how I found them.

I used to work at The Palace of Auburn Hills, back in the early 90's as stage security. Think the Detroit Piston Bad Boy years. Back then, the band stayed at this particular hotel every time they came to town. The owner of the Palace of Auburn Hills also owns DTE Music Theatre. Well, one of the guys I met there (whom I'm still friends with to this day), his mom works in the promotions department for the venues. He sends me the band's set list for every concert I see at the Palace and DTE Music Theatre to this day. Well, he confirmed that the band was still staying at this same hotel. He said, that is the ONLY hotel they stay in whenever they come to Southeast Michigan. And, sure enough, he was right.

I just found out today, the guy who hooked me up was indeed Matt Bruck. I just read an interview with Eddie over on Music Radar (http://www.musicradar.com/news/guita...vh-gear-641564) and they mentioned "Eddie's right hand man" for the EVH brand, Matt Bruck. I googled the name 'Matt Bruck EVH' and sure enough, that is the guy who hooked me up.

I'm forever grateful to Matt. The guitar is still as cool to me today as it was a year ago when I got it autographed.

And, I did what I said I was going to do earlier in the thread. I took it to Elderly Music. And for $500, they clear coated the guitar for me. So, the signature is preserved for life. They even said, "You know, it's worth more without the personalization. We can buff that off." But I said no way. He personalized it for me so I wanted to keep it. I'm not selling this guitar to save my life. I'll pass it down to my children when I'm gone.

If anyone knows Matt Bruck, tell him I said "Thank you!" His kind gesture meant the world to me.
