Default They need to go right into the studio after the tour.

Given how well everyone is playing and singing, they need to take this momentum right into the studio and make a new record.
If Dave and Eddie are getting along as well as they are appearing to be, forget them going the there separate ways once the tour is done. Seems getting back together takes too damn long.
One can hope that they are inspired and writing on the road.

After witnessing this on-stage 2015 VH semi-Lovefest, with 1981 technical playing levels, I'd predict there's a solid 60% this will indeed happen.

I think they are really starting to realize that time is running out, and their outlook has been adjusted as a result.

That would be ideal, because their "road chops" would be on a high note. Pun intended
I understand that they might want to decompress after a tour, any tour, but hope the recoup period isn't too long. Think of how much we look forward to the weekend (those of us who have it off), and then try to imagine your work week being several months long, with tons of travelling and various sleep patterns.

Shift workers will identify with that. I'm one too, so I know how it goes...
I like where you're going with this thread though. A new VH album??? YES PLEASE!!!!

I don't see that happening, despite how good things are going at the moment. Number one, there's no money or incentive in it. I'm sure that piecing together ADKOT proved tough enough one time around, so why put themselves through that process again? I just don't see them putting out anymore albums. They are now just a touring band at best. Perhaps its better that way too.

100% agree. They are burning way too hot right now not to just hit record and at least map out some new material. The only timing hitch that we know of would be Wolf's solo album/Tremonti touring schedule after this VH tour wraps.

Note to Mr. Edward Van Halen:

"If you release an album of 10 new tracks, I'll give you $200 for it right now... That's what it's worth to me"

Yeah it feels like timing would be right for it. After this tour take the rest of the year off and get down to business at the beginning of 2016. They supposedly had another dozen or so tunes in the can after ADKOT. Work a few of those back up along with some new ideas. Chemistry seems the best it's been in along time. I think then next album would be an epic addition to their catalog. If it's as good or better then ADKOT they have a winner! Keep the train moving fella's...more icing on your legacy!

Just get Wolf to produce it...

If he's managed to get DDL, Simple Rhyme, Growth, Girl Gone Bad, HAIL, Atomic Punk and LUTS to see the light of day once again, then surely he can whip the boys back into action for another 8 weeks or so in STUDIO 5150.

It was supposedly closer to 2 dozen extra songs...
In theory, it shouldn't be too hard to get the ball rolling!

Agreed. However, Wolf may be part of any potential delay... He has a new record of his own coming out, and in VH tradition, he'll probably want to tour behind it. Even if he's in smaller clubs and music halls, which it probably would be.

There's a lot of recent examples of musicians/bands doing "double duty", so I'd hope that Wolf acts accordingly. Nikki Sixx did a whole tour with his awesome side project SIXX A.M. opening for the Crue....

I forgot about Wolf's album. Hopefully while he is completing that and touring a little bit Dave, Ed, and Al can get be writing. We could be looking at 2017.

We all know that Ed has 10 albums worth of new material (well, 9 after ADKOT) and he's probably already written the basslines, so just need Dave to write some lyrics and they'll be good to go.

I highly doubt they do anything. I bet they will be completely exhausted. These are 60+ year old men, except for Wolfgang. They aren't hungry 20 year olds trying to conquer the world anymore. I hope I'm wrong and they do write some more material like most of us would like, but I bet it doesn't happen.

After every tour, people are all fired up and think Van Halen will march right back into the studio to write another album. But really, the opposite happens--they go into hibernation. Yeah, Dave will put out something wacky and odd that no one will really care about. Eddie will do a press release or two about a new EVH amp or guitar. Wolfgang will do something with that other group he hangs out with, but it won't really make any waves. It will be interesting to see how his solo album is received--if/whenever that comes out. Its difficult to form your own identity in the shadow of a genius parent. Oh, and Alex will not be seen or heard from again until their next tour.

I don't want to be gloom and doom, but that seems to be their pattern for the last 10 years.
