    Vinyl

*music industry themed drama series on HBO
*from Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter
    *coming in 2016

    Trailer:
Music: “Personality Crisis” / New York Dolls

The drama stars Bobby Cannavale and hails from Martin Scorsese, Terence Winter and Mick Jagger.

After wowing the Television Critics Association, HBO has released the first footage of its upcoming rock 'n' roll drama, Vinyl.

While the minute long teaser released Thursday is far from the extended trailer shown to critics at TCA, the clip offers a great look at what to expect from the 1970s rock 'n' roll drama.

Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire) stars as Richie, the founder and president of American Century Records, who has a great ear for discovering talent and who undergoes a crisis of character when confronted with a life-altering decision. Olivia Wilde stars as Richie's wife, with Parenthood's Ray Romano set as one of Richie's partners. The cast also includes Juno Temple, Andrew Dice Clay, Ato Essandoh, Max Casella, James Jagger, Jack Quaid, Birgitte Hjort Sorensen, P.J. Byrne, J.C. MacKenzie, Bo Dietl, Armen Garo, Robert Funaro and Joe Caniano.

Martin Scorsese directed the pilot and executive produces alongside producer Mick Jagger, Terence Winter, Rick Yorn, Victoria Pearman, Emma Tillinger Koskoff and George Mastras. Winter is set as showrunner and penned the script with Mastras. A premiere date has not been determined yet.

"It takes place in ’72. So by then, the Stones were already wealthy and but there is — in fact, you will see a different band. Stones music will be in the series but not with any more frequency than any other music of the period," said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo of the series at TCA earlier in the tour. "Mick’s son is one of our series’ regulars. James is playing a young musician who looks not unlike his father. But the band has nothing to do with the Rolling Stones. Very different period. Very different trajectory. So no, this is not a story of the Rolling Stones or Mick Jagger, although you will see someone in the series that looks startlingly close to Mick."

I was never a fan, but we had Andrew Dice Clay do a signing for his book, at our store in Boston.

    I was shocked!
He was the nicest, most genuine, low maintenance guy.
You can tell a lot behind the scenes, before they meet the actual fans and do the
    signing.
But he was a really sweet, humble guy, and his two sons were super polite.

I was thinking, "I guess "Diceman" really was just a persona."

Jim Norton was another super cool, low maintenance dude.

Rachel Ray was a fucking nightmare.

Guaranteed one of the actor's lines will be:

We just signed this skinny kid from Asbury Park that fancies himself to be the next Bob Dylan.
    His name is Bruce Springsteen.

I will watch this if for no other reason than to determine how we went from music and musicians like the Stones, Pink Floyd and Led Zep to the drum machine rubbish and pop twats we have today.
This looks like it's gonna be good.

I have to say that I am absolutely loving this show. Great mix of music with historical fiction going on in this one. The portrayals of the artists are superb also. Last two episodes had Alice Cooper and Lou Reed and it was great. They also had Neil Bogart in a scene so I expect KISS to be featured in an episode soon. They've done a really good job capturing that era and the classic music scene that produced so many legends.

The first video features the New York Dolls playing the old Mercer Arts Center in Manhattan. That's where KISS and The Dolls used to play. Yes, it actually did collapse.

    Here's a scene featuring Zep

Show reminds me how fucked the music scene is today.
"He has a swaggering retro machismo that will give hives to the Steinem cabal" -Camille Paglia on Donald Trump

"Make way for the bad guy"- Tony Montana

'This hamburger don't need no helper"- David Lee Roth

"I wish Bon Jovi would've given me a call before he recorded all of his hits, because the lyrics would've been smarter, the melodies would've been much more smashing, and they would've sold a lot fewer records." -David Lee Roth

"My beef is people thinking Bon Jovi is good cuz they sold lots of records to housewives." -tango

"But being number one doesn’t really mean jack fuck all. We sold twice as many records as other records that year (1984) that landed in the Number One position." ~Eddie Van Halen

I've been enjoying it, too. I didn't think they'd be portraying so many artists. Some of them are really good.
It's not great on a Sopranos level, but not bad.

Hopefully, it sticks around long enough to get to the VH era.

It's like they created this show just for me!

I'm reading that the critics have mixed reactions.
    Fuck that.
    It's great, thus far.

That last episode was amazing! And I'm not just talking about, Wilde.

I knew there was something up with his buddy.

Andrew Dice Clay was amazing in this, early on.
I met him back in the Summer, surprisingly, he was an incredibly nice guy.
He never told us about this project.

I still do not understand why they killed him (twice).
He was in a coke rage, but there were two guys & they could have subdued him.

He was good. Sucks they axed him.
He's got a reality show coming on soon. Not sure what channel?
