    Default Top Ten non-Ed solos

    A bit of fun.

Choosing just one solo per guitarist, list your top ten non-Eddie solos. And just ten - no honourable mentions, ties or whatever - otherwise it becomes too easy.

    1) Beyond the Realms of Death- Glenn Tipton

    2) 18 and Life - Scotti Hill

    4) Comfortably Numb (solo 1) - David Gilmour

    5) The Final Countdown - Jon Norum

    6) First Time (Coca-Cola song) - Ira Siegel

    7) You Shook Me All Night Long- Angus Young

    8) Stranger in a Strange Land - Adrian Smith

    9) Alexander the Great - Dave Murray

    10) Walking By Myself - Gary Moore

You probably know most of these except for number 6 so here it is. Solo starts with some Eddie-ish violining at the 2 minute mark. Great tone, technique and composition. Very classy solo.

Fun idea! There's literally hundreds of possibilities, but I'll give this a go. In no particular order :

    1) David Gilmour - Comfortably Numb, 2nd solo from The Delicate Sound of Thunder live cd.
    2) Yngwie Malmsteen - Dreaming (Tell Me), from the Trial by Fire/Live in Leningrad cd.
    3) Richie Sambora - Stranger in This Town, main solo from his first solo album.
    4) Gary Moore - Still Got the Blues, main solo.
    5) Jake E. Lee - Mr. Crowley, 2nd solo from The Ultimate Ozzy.
    6) Vito Bratta - Wait, from the Pride cd.
    7) Pete Lesperance (Harem Scarem) - If There Was a Time, from the Mood Swings cd.
    8) Steve Vai - Big Trouble, from the Eat Em and Smile cd.
    9) Jeff Healey - Blue Jean Blues, main solo from the See the Light cd.
    10) Randy Rhoads - Suicide Solution, cadenza solo from the Tribute cd.

    Awesome thread man!!! I'll play!

    Really, in no order:

Nuno Bettencourt: Get the Funk Out
    Nuno Bettencourt: Play With Me
Paul Gilbert: Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy
Paul Gilbert: Addicted to that Rush
George Lynch: Mr. Scary (Pick any part of the song you like)
Joe Satriani: Satch Boogie (entire song)
Randy Rhoads: Mr. Crowley both solos (that count as 2? Shit, counts as one now)
Jake E. Lee: Bark at the Moon
    Zakk Wylde: Miracle Man
David Gilmour: Comfortably Numb from the Delicate Sound of Thunder Live--just doesn't get any better.

There's just so much more Nuno, Randy, Paul, Gilmour and Rhoads, and Satriani to mention! OP wanted 10, though, so there it is!

Any other Nuno fans out there?! Play With Me might be one of my favorites but I'll be damned if I can play it!!

    Steve Vai: Shy Boy
    Steve Vai: Big Trouble
    David Gilmour: Dogs
    David Gilmour: Time
    Satchel: Community Property
Jimi Hendrix: The Wind Cries Mary
    Randy Rhoads: Mr. Crowley

Exactly! When you love a solo by someone you usually really like their other stuff which means choosing just one solo per guitarist is painfully hard. Otherwise Tipton & Murray would be running riot

Some very good picks in your list. Can't believe how I left them out as they're usally always there.

Jimmy Page everything from the live album and movie, The Song Remains The Same

The OP wanted only one solo per guitar player. Trust me, I originally posted 2 by Jake and Sambora! LOL. Reread the instructions, then edited my choices.
Hard to do. Not hard to list a fav, but difficult to leave off all the other cool ones as well...

Players like Vai, Malmsteen, Bratta, Bettencourt, Healey, Sambora, Rhoads, E. Lee, etc. are known for their soloing. There are so many wicked examples by each of them!
    Great thread and choices, guys

That's it. We can all list our favourites but that's easy so instead I like to get people to think and make hard choices. Do you go for the main solo or the outro? Do you go for his solo here or his solo there? Which is a lot more fun than just rattling off "everything by Jimmy Page" or whatever.
