Default Reliced EVH Striped Series Frank's

I remember when the first R/B/W striped series was released I wondered how long it would take for someone to do this. I guess I know the answer now...

These look pretty fucking good IMO. I guess for some of you creative guys out there that this would not be too hard to do and would be a tad cheaper than the Fender version.

If I didn't all ready have my 3 Franks that I built, I'd seriously consider having a go at one.

Dude on ebay is doing them...

I think they look great, and would be a really easy way to get yourself a cheap Frankie replica.

If I ever did this I might add the top jack for accuracy but continue using the side jack for functionality. My Floyd bars can get stuck on those top facing jacks too easily. I've gone for the bar and not found it way too many times.

Not sure how I missed these when scrolling through EBay everyday. Guy has sold a bunch. And it's all legit. Interesting way to make money off the stripes, as the EVH legal team can't really do anything here!

What's under the pickguard on the B&W EVH Striped Seris guitars? Are there pickup cavities or solid wood that needs to be routed?

The B&W EVH SS are only routed for a humbucker... no middle or neck p/u cavities...

That why I switched to right angled jacks on one end. Or is it left? Anyway it solves that problem of the bar getting caught up.

I saw these. I was all about one until I saw the back. The route for the jack and volume pot cover kills it for me. And can't use a b/w one because the thinner black stripes are painted on and can't be removed. So that's no good either. They do good work though.

That's why I'm thinking about modding my b/w striped series axe... The pickguard would hide the routing 'wounds' and still look like a kick ass instrument.

Damn! I'm really on the fence about picking one of these up while I still can! A Frankie replica is like the absolute last guitar on my VH bucket list. It wasn't even really on my radar either just because I had the attitude that they weren't obtainable. I in no way have the skill-set, the time, and especially the patience to even attempt building one myself! I really admire all of you that have built your own!

I really don't want to spend the money, but I can see VH lawyers intervening in some way--even though it's essentially a striped-series guitar. I think the custom work and relic'ing look great. Ignore the extra back plate, the original input jack location, and the EVH logo and I really don't think I'd be able to tell the difference.

Default Reliced EVH Striped Series Frank's

They're cool I think they're definitely worth it if you don't want to build your own. They're not cheap though.

I don't think there's anything Ed can do about it honestly.

Man, I can't decide!! No, they're not cheap! I figure around $999-ish for the guitar, then factor in the cost of the Frankenstein pickup, they're charging around $500 for their custom work.

I even already got the approval from my wife--and STILL won't pull the trigger!

And their work is worth $500. The guitar I've seen way less than $1k though. Do it if you can afford it I don't think you'll be disappointed.

They ARE cool and there is absolutely nothing EVH can do about it. They are technically used guitars being sold on ebay, nothing illegal about that. If anything, EVH should be happy that these guitars are being bought by people that may not want the stock r/w/b striped guitar. I for one don't like look of the guitar, but that guy's reliced one looks sweet and makes me want one now.

This makes me want to relic my bumblebee. Does anyone have a pic of that guitar before it was buried?
