Default Mitch Malloy video- The Whole Story

Interesting short on Mitch's brief time in the band, after Sammy and before Gary. Also cool to hear his soon to be finished track that he had worked on with the band, which may explain why "That's Why I Love You" was never released.

Very cool video of a much lesser known period in VH history. I'm glad Mitch did this video and put it out for the fans who are curious and wanted to know more.
The music he worked on for "It's the Right Time" was an interesting thing to have stashed away for so long. I actually do like the first couple of lyrics he penned for that one. I wonder if anyone's heard the full version of his..., namely Edward?

"That's why I Love You" wasn't released with Gary at the helm, but it was recorded and finished in it's entirety. I'm surprised that Eddie gave the music to Mitch to have free rein on. Maybe "gave" isn't the correct word, yet I'm surprised that it was allowed out of 5150 in unfinished form, prior to the III album. That blows my mind in a way.

There's another video floating around which is a compilation of rare EVH clips. It starts with Eddie playing guitar during the III period, with a couple of guys in the room. He demos a new original for the second album with Cherone... The tune "It Ain't Over 'Till It's Over" had some neat riffs to it! I'd also love to hear that one resurface someday

This footage has been floating around for awhile now.... All I can say is that bullets were dodged from every angle with the result of what happened here. It would of been a million times worse than the VH3 cd.

I think the proof is in the pudding, so to speak.
Gary did what he had to with the cards he was dealt. By most accounts, the tour was great and the eras were represented properly, for a replacement singer on his maiden voyage with VH.

I've heard the Malloy version of 'Panama' and wasn't too impressed at all, despite it being a novelty. Pretty sure that lineup wouldn't have worked in a live setting. Kudos to Gary, despite the sales and fan response.

I appreciate the sentiment, but believe this is a physical impossibility. At least not without the implosion and heat death of the universe.

I was thinking something similar. A million times worse than VH3 can't be measured, can it? I would think "different than VH3" would have really good odds of being "better than VH3".

I liked it. A much better fit than Gary who, for some reason, tended to shout everything.

I don't know about a better fit than Gary. Mitch makes Jon Bon Jovi look like Bon Scott

I'd have to go back and give it another listen. I just remember not being awed by it. And we all know I like the other three singers, so it's not a bias one way or the other...

Btw, loving your posts here lately, man.

Maybe to try and overcompensate for his lack of stage presence?

You've got to be kidding me???
Jake was my hero right before EVH, and his playing/stage presence on "The Ultimate Ozzy" vhs tape was a big part of why... I absolutely LOVE his version of Mr. Crowley, and how he approached those solos!

I've also heard other 1986 bootlegs where they are pretty much the same. I've got a bootleg dvd from Dortmund Germany 1983, where Jake throws in some extra flashy licks. Of course he also smoked on the US Fest clips.

Which source did you use for your version?
