Default UCR: Best albums of 1981

    nothing too interesting...but..

    1) There were some classic albums in 1981, eh?
    2) Nice to see they include FW at #10
    3) They say FW began as EVH solo record, don't think I've heard it described quite like that. Maybe just their wording to what we know...Ed's guitar album that he labored over w Donn late at night. etc

It was a great year for tunes. Even the pop stuff was good.

Some others from '81 I dug...

    Maiden - Killers
    Pretenders - II
April Wine - Nature of the Beast
    Styx - Paradise Theater
Def Leppard - High 'n' Dry
    Priest - Point of Entry
    Stray Cats -

I wrote a term paper for U.S. History in April of 1981. I was a Junior in High School. The topic of my paper: "Van Halen, America's Greatest Rock & Roll Band." No joke. You already know what came out a couple of weeks after I turned in my paper ...

"If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you"

It's a nice follow-up to On Through The Night. Give it a shot.

I do know OTTN. I used to have it on cassette. When Pyromania was big...I wanted to hear what came before but oddly enough, didn't listen to High & Dry.

BMG music club didn't give me a choice. But unlike Joshua Tree, I liked High n Dry and didn't mind paying the 8 bucks.

But I'm still stuck with Joshua Tree.

There's an extra song titled " Me and My Wine" that wasn't on my original copy of High & Dry it's pretty good one of my favorites from them.

" On a scale that ranges from deep dark depression to rip roaring fun ... most people idle between pissed off ...and not too pissed off " DLR 1997

" I am the danger ... I am the one who knocks " Walter White 2011
