Default EVH & Rick Wyman from 1996

One the benefits of the new Apple Music service is finding and listening to music you would probably never buy in a million years. Of course my first searches was VH. No bonus material on any of the original records (no surprise there) but I came across this record:

    Rick Wyman - Faithless Child

Eddie played on 3 tracks. Don't remember this from back in the day but it's cool to listen to "new" EVH even if it's from 1996
It's on the Tube as well:

I actually liked it. Eddie doesn't really do anything spectacular on it, but it's a fun listen nonetheless.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

Funny, I first read that as Rick Wakeman (keyboardist of Yes fame). That would have been a collaboration I would have enjoyed hearing.

    But alas...

This vocalist isn't too bad.... but I sure wish I could eternally unhear those lyrics. /o_O\

... obviously didn't inspire Evh very much either.

Was this the best of the the 3 songs?

Cheers for the heads up either way, sir.

This was something new for Eddie. He was stepping out with a new project.
He's done some diverse things. I also like the Thomas Dolby stuff, the Nicolette Larson song, the emotional/moody guitar solo from "Lost Boys Calling" w/Roger Waters, the LL Cool J. tracks, etc.

Haven't heard this one in a while... Thanks for posting and reminding

Cool. I didn't know he did something with Dolby. I'll have to dig that out.

It kind of reminds me of Respect the Wind from the Twister soundtrack.

    Astronauts And Heretics

For Astronauts & Heretics (Virgin UK), Dolby expanded even further stylistically, starting the songwriting process at the piano, then again collaborating with a variety of guest musicians. Both Bob Weir and Jerry Garcia played guitar on "The Beauty of a Dream". Eddie Van Halen plays on "Eastern Bloc" and "Close But No Cigar". Other collaborators included Jimmy Z on sax, Budgie on drums and Leland Sklar on bass guitar. Terry Jackson also contributed bass guitar on four songs before his 1991 death in a plane accident with seven other members of Reba McEntire's support band for her "For My Broken Heart" tour.

That was actually quite tastefully done. A word I don't usually associate with VH... but I rather liked the musical theme.
