Cut and pasted from VHND's extremely to the point article...

"Van Halen - It's Your Move
April 19, 2001 - David Lee Roth officially confirmed the worst kept secret in the music business this morning - he's been collaborating with Van Halen again. The cone of silence that has hung above both the Van Halen and David Lee Roth camps since the departure of Gary Cherone in November 1999 has finally been lifted.

Now the $64,000 questions is this: what happens now?

First of all, now that Dave has come clean, so should Van Halen. The secret that was already out has been confirmed, and more silence on the issue from the band will only damage the relationship that they have with their fans. For almost 18 months, Van Halen has kept their fans in the dark about their plans. "No news is good news" is all we've heard.

The worrying thing about Dave's statement is that he says he hasn't been in touch with the guys in Van Halen since last July. That's a long time, and explains why no album or tour has come out of the reunion. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered quickly, otherwise we may see another fan backlash similar to 1996.

For those that don't remember, many fans thought Dave was back for good when he recorded two new tracks with the band in 1996 for the Van Halen Best Of Volume 1 album. The "reunion" was thought to be permanent when Dave joined his old bandmates on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards. Things turned sour when Dave wrote his open letter to the fans revealing that he was not back in the band. Van Halen later revealed that Gary Cherone, formerly of Extreme, was the new lead singer.

Van Halen released Van Halen III in 1998 and toured, while Dave released DLR Band in 1998 and toured the following year. Both albums sold poorly when compared to previous efforts. According to SoundScan, Van Halen III sold 505,000 copies to January 2000, while DLR Band sold 52,000 on Dave's independent label. Both had been used to automatic multi-platinum success during the previous 20 years. Gary left the band in November 1999 and within seconds of the announcement, Van Halen and David Lee Roth fans began preparing for the inevitable reunion.

It's time now for Van Halen to issue a press release. We've waited long enough."

Kudos Grant.

Right on.

The weight's on VH's shoulders now...no reason for an announcement NOT to be made soon.

Props to Dave for finally breaking the silence. Maybe now that the pressure's REALLY on VH will say something.

Here is Van Halens response:

April 19 - This is in response to David Lee Roth's open statement (see anywhere on web). It will be officially released to the press tomorrow.

We parted company with David Lee Roth 16 years ago for many reasons. In his open statement on April 19, we were reminded of some of them. The intention all along was to do two new songs with Dave for the Best Of Volume 2 package. He was never lead to believe anything but that.

Dave was never an "unwitting participant". We appeared in public just as we do before releasing any other Van Halen record. For the last while Van Halen hasn't done much, but
Van Halen will go forward and create the best possible music that we can.

Edward, Alex, Michael

Or something like that

Man talk about turning up the heat!!!
I still dont see VH making an official statement. I mean what the hell could they say??
Looks like they have 2options now.
1. call it done forever (that would suck)
2. Get Dave over to 5150 and finish the Fucken album!!
Lets hope they pick #2
just my worthless 2 cents

To the guys of the Van Halen camp...

I love ya to death...you guys are my life, my world, hell my existance. We need to know something now more than ever. You need to let us know one way or the other what the deal is concerning not only the immediate future, but plans later on. Don't make us, the fans, wait any longer. Please say something. The time to act is NOW.

Congrats on including the incorrectly spelled 'lead' as they did in the initial letter!

What scares me is that we just might get that letter again as their announcement. Oh man--- a VH form letter press release. Just what we need...more pat responses.
Don't bark at me...I didn't name ya.

From what I understand Bradman continues to maintain that "No news is STILL good news." Didn't see this for myself though, so one grain of salt.

Uhh...Bradman...there was NEWS.

I swear I'm going to email Bill Bell(writer for Young and The Restless) and clue him in on the VH scenario. He could write on this subject for years.
