Per Dave Friedman who builds his pedalboards it's the same as 2012-2013

I do believe he swapped the MXR Chorus for a Boss chorus. But as Imthe1/Dave Friedman said, no other major changes.

I'm really stoked to find out whatever it is!! I've given this some thought too considered the following (unlikely) possibilities:

Chorus: Unlikely since MXR technically already makes 4 chorus pedals--even though the 234 and Zakk Wylde are the same. Possibly make one with and 'EVH' button like the flanger for his settings? Doubtful too since I think he kept the knobs basically all at noon on the M234. This is all of course a moot point if he's in fact using a Boss now.

Octave pedal: Possible, but I think he prefers the digital aspect of the OC3. Plus, digital ones are polyphonic while analogs are not. I personally much prefer my MXR Bass Octave pedal over the OC3, though.

Detune: Since MXR only makes analog pedals I highly doubt we'll see a detune-type pedal.

Updated flanger and/or phaser? Maybe true bypass versions? Maybe an 'all in one' that does both efffects?

Brown sound distortion: I doubt this too for two reasons. He doesn't use a dirt pedal, and people may be less inclined to buy the upcoming amp that's said to produce the early VH tones.

I personally can't wait to see what it is!

You make some really good points. Good detective work, in weighing the options/issues with MXR's analog technology.
Their pedals are generally very good. Ed has already released some great f/x with them. Stoked to see what's coming next!

Part of me does wish he'd come out with a dirt pedal though, as the amps are pretty pricey. Could it be some sort of a boost pedal, to give 5150III owners the added gain/tonal options as those new modded Stealth amps he uses for touring?

I also recall when the original Peavey 5150 amp came out, that Eddie mentioned wanting Matt Bruck to delve into wireless technology. I wonder what ever became of that?

I believe it was in the premiere issue of Guitar Shop magazine.

    I'd love that, potentially.
Eddie has used different delay settings on some awesome recordings - Cathedral, Women in Love intro, etc. Not to mention his normal ambient delay ala the Echoplex or his stereo spread for live work.

It would make sense to be a unit similar to the TC Flashback X4, with presets. Then again, Ed prefers digital delays.
That would be a first for MXR. No?

He used to use a 1/2 rack space 'Smart Gate' unit in the loop of his 5150's. Sholtz's Rockman brand, I think?
MXR whittled that design down into pedal form. Their Smart Gate pedal has been around for a while. Here's mine... :

Scroll down a bit. I see a Boss octave pedal that hasn't been on his board in years. I knew I heard octave in his solo clips.

The Summer NAMM news is he's leaving Dunlop for Boss. Boss has the Roland delays he wants anyway. And the detune pedals. And he'd be different with a boss EVH chorus pedal. MXR has too many chorus pedals already. I kid. But it could easily happen. Not leave MXR. Just have Boss pedals too.

Yup, usually during the post-Cathedral dive bombs. The octave is what makes them sound so wicked and evil.

I was curious, is he using a Boss Super Chorus? Or another Boss pedal?!?
