Default Creed - new twist on movie story lines?

Just saw this...It's the story of Apollo Creed's son. The movie actually looks really good.

Rocky Balboa was surprisingly good. From the looks of the trailer, the focus is more on Creed and Rocky takes on more of a Mickey role. I'm optimistic about it.

Love the franchise overall, yet not too sure about this one.
Not a fan of the rap music in the last couple of Rocky films... With the *ahem* tone of this movie, a crappy (to me) soundtrack is all but assured.

I mean, they can't use the signature Rocky "Gonna Fly Now" motif for this, can they?
Nice to see Stallone back. We'll see...

I loved Apollo and Clubber in those films, so don't take it the wrong way. The music is a big part of the appeal to me... Rocky V and Rocky Balboa both had rap music in them and I personally hate that stuff with a passion.

This new one seems predominately black/coloured ghetto style with a rap soundtrack.
Judging by the trailer, I don't think there'll be any Bon Jovi or Whitesnake in the movie, y'know? LOL.

Rocky 5 was pure shit. Rocky 4 was really pushing it but all the other ones are classics IMO.

This might be a cool way for Stallone to keep it going, coming full circle and becoming the trainer (Mickey) and passing the torch. I mean that's sorta what Rocky 5 was supposed to be, but the execution was a disaster.

Maybe this will hit the mark.

    Very much agreed!

The thing about Rocky V though, is that Robert "Rocky" Jr. learned how to fight a bit. Like Adrian said -"if there's something you want to pass on, pass it on to your son."
I thought that after Rocky Balboa, where his son saw him return to the ring, that it would be a motivation, and that the father/son angle might've been a cool road to go down...

I'd never heard of this till just now. Rocky is a classic, Rocky Balboa was far better than it had any right to be, and I kind of pretend the movies in between don't exist. I think this could be interesting, though. And I like the "tone".

The only Rocky movie that I didn't like was the one with Morrison in it. That was the VH3 moment of the franchise.

Everything else is decent enough to watch. However the original is actually a great flick.

Of all the sequels, prequels, spin offs and reboots that have arrived over recent years, this one seems like a great idea for once. A new movie, with a new main character, but with a back story based on something many of us grew up with and know well. It actually seems like Hollywood has found a way to combine freshness and originality with a sure-fire franchise hit.

Agreed. I doubt that I will watch this shit. Rocky Balboa should have been the end for this character.

I watched Rocky 3 a few weeks ago and its amazing they still air some of the dialogue on TV. Paulie is a borderline racist. Wonder what happened to his Robot?
