Default Lack of Van Halen at the Rock and Roll HOF

Hey guys, I checked out the museum this afternoon. It's always a great time, I highly reccomend it if you live close and have an afternoon to spare.

Lots of neat stuff up there. There's a cool Paul Simon exhibit going on right now and there's stuff from a ton of other artists. Shirley you'd think there'd be some cool Van Halen stuff in there, right? I mean, Eddie's one of the most influential musicians of all time. Well, be prepared to be amazed by what's currently representing VH in Cleveland.

    Autograph wall.

Michael Anthony's bass and some hand written It's About Time lyrics.

    And that's it.

Could Ed have heat with somebody over his Smithsonian appearance? I distinctly remember there being a Frankenstein clone in there at one point. Maybe just thinking too much into it. It's also very possible that Ed just doesn't give a shit at all about the HOF.

No surprise. VH is not a band that's gonna have a huge section. Like you said, Ed probably isn't giving them anything. They have to go around, themselves, and buy stuff. They're not spending a fortune to do that.

And it's always changing. Every floor of the place changes every year. When I was there shortly after the induction there was more stuff. Six months from now there might be more.

Either way the place is still a great time.

How did you miss the 1980 Invasion drumset? I also believe there is a black Peavey Wolfgang somewhere. LAst I saw it was in a display case with the 1980 drumset.

They had to have moved it out of there. I asked for Van Halen stuff and was shown Michael Anthony's bass. Wish I could have seen that, though!

It was there earlier this year. It was in the area under where you buy tickets before you enter the beginning of the tour. Sat next to the ZZ Top car.

Just out of interest how much AC/DC and Iron Maiden stuff is there? Along with VH I see them as 2 other bands who, no matter how big they got, always manage to retain some kind of anti establishment underground presence that kept them apart from a stuffy self congratulatory institution like the RNRHOF. I could be wrong though. ( not dissing the actual museum btw, I'm sure there is some interesting stuff in there)

To be honest, I don't recall any AC/DC items aside from what is in the photo above and I don't think Maiden is in the HoF yet. I was last there 3 years ago, so if there was any AC/DC I could just be forgetting what I saw. The case display with the JD bass is cool as hell. That hallway is probably my favorite part aside from Les Paul's "Log" Here is a shot of the the other side of the case before they added the BB King Guitar. I love Dime's guitar, the Rob Halford jacket, and Phil Collen's dracula guitar up top (Cut off mostly)

Maybe if they sucked it up and appeared the night they got inducted there would be more. My guess is they don't care either way.

I love that Invasion kit, has that 1980 vibe to it.
Would have loved to have seen that in person.

Instead of burying it, i wish Ed would have placed my favorite guitar (The Bee)
    into the HOF.
It pains me to think of that guitar in it's current state.
Not to be insensitive, but why Ed why?!

That place is a joke in my opinion, went there once and I'll never go back again.

    Truthfully,
    I feel the same way.

Very generous of Ed to do that but I hate the thought of it deteriorating.

You know as bad as this sounds, with all of the obsessed EVH collectors and replica builders, I am surprised nobody has tried to steal it. I'm sure 11 years since it was buried, it is probably pretty nasty.
