Default How many would like a Vai Sheehan Roth reunion?

Bring back Cherone, Ed and free Dave from the nuthouse Van Halen is.
How many would like to see Vai and Sheehan back with Dave?
Guarantee you they would put together a smoking hot album.
They are willing to experiment and try new stuff unlike old man Ed.

Shouldn't this go in the Roth forum?

i couldn't be less interested. I'm guessing you'd have trouble selling out the local coffee house for this renion. Not really a huge demand from the market to hear Ladies Night in Buffalo live one more time.

I guess I'll probably be in the minority here but I'd pay to listen/see this. Dave's voice will still be terrible live BUT they would make new music that would fit around Dave's current voice. Billy is my fav musician other than Ed and Vai is right up there too(along with Satch). I'd actually PREFER to see this live over the current incarnation of VH

I don't think Roth, Vai or Sheehan would even be interested in this.

I will be very surprised if DLR isn't the last lead singer VH ever has. This whole fiasco will eventually blow over. For all we know, Dave and Eddie are laughing about all of the publicity and attention this has garnered the band since last Friday.

No, I would not want to hear that. It was right for the time, but it would never work today.

Now if you had said "Do I wish to hear Dave's collaboration with John 5" then I would have said yes.

I agree....couldnt be less interested....and outside the Van Halen crowd there would be zero interest .....no incentive for these guys to do this at this point

I wouldn't be interested in a Vai and Sheehan reunion. I don't think it would work today. They have all gone in different paths. However, with that being said, what I would love to see is DLR work up a band with John 5. They seem to be connected on a musical and friendship level that I could totally see bring out the best out of both of them. Hell.... Why not throw Michael Anthony on bass and Ray Luzier on drums while you are at it and we just might have a force to be reckoned with!

Not sure what you mean... Not the right time for what exactly?

    Not work today? 80s flamboyance?
Do check out Madonna's new super retro 80s video. (It's quite fun .. and had *13 million views over the weekend* for not working today.

I agree, I would also like the hear the Roth/John 5 project... but I would honestly be much more interested to hear an EEAS reunion... I can totally see a over-the-top DLR project.

Recently you have these projects like the The Winery Dogs happening, but I find them a bit maudlin over-all... much like this new VH tour is starting off. (><)

I for one miss the irreverent fun.

Bring on "Eat 'Em Again for Dessert & Smile" I say!

    That's my 2 cents anyway.

    Cheers,

So you want a dance album then? LOL

I'd love to hear a new VH record, but a new EEAS band record would be terrible.
I think after all these years, I still like Eddie better than Vai because he's just more rock n roll.
Kinda back and forth on technique anymore. Been dialing in some fusion radio on Spotify and while I hear some great stuff that I've overlooked up to now - Scott Henderson springs to mind - that clinical
style of guitar playing I find kind of pointless outside of the greater context of a real band thing. That said, there are exceptions. Discovered Sheehan's Niacin record here, as well, and I think it's some of his greatest playing.

    I can't get into the Guthrie Govan's & John 5's of today.

It's all technique, with no attitude.

Edward had all the cards: Virtuosity, tone for days, attitude, songwriting skills, image.

But he also had a great foundation beneath the chops:
    Blues, bends, rhythm, swing.

I hear so many people upset with Ed saying, "He's not that special anymore.
We've got Vai & Yngwie & ten million people playing 8 string Ibanez guitars
    on youtube."

    You guys miss the point.

Ed was one in a billion.
    He was special.

He just had it in his hands and in his heart and brain.

Paul Gilbert is from another planet, in terms of technical ability. I don't know about his songwriting skills. Very talented guy.
