Default Does this action still seem high?

I'm still not happy with the action I'm getting. If I add more the my neck shim, the strings start to buzz on the higher frets. I've checked the relief and it seems fine. If I press down on the first and last frets, I can get a pick between the 9th fret and the string.

    Any suggestions?

Where is that measured? I obviously can't get it lower at the nut. That's an r2 with no shims.

You can adjust the truss rod a little.

    Tightening or loosening?

It still seems very high at the nut, which I don't think there's anything I can do about it, besides sanding the shelf. And I really don't want to do that.

Tightening it should flatten it some more and bring it closer to the strings.

I'm thinking more and more that this is a nut issue, although Musikraft confirmed that the shelf is the correct depth. At the low E string, it's 0.96mm from the bottom of the string to the top of the first fret. At the high E string, it's 0.58mm from the bottom of the string to the top of the first fret. That seems very high.

I wonder how difficult it is to sand down a Floyd nut?

Well or might require adding another neck shim and loosening the truss rod some.

My typical thought process is to tighten the truss rod to straighten the neck and get lower action across the fretboard, but 9 times out of 10 loosening the truss rod a bit more is what does the trick.

Well, I tightened it about 1/4 turn, but that was too much. No relief at all. So, I brought it back about 1/8th of a turn.

I still think the nut is too high, but I'm afraid to start sanding the shelf. The F notes on both the 1st and 6th strings go sharp.

I'm sure I could take it to a tech and get it done for some $$$, but I want to learn to do this stuff myself.

Yep. Shim and adjust the bridge as necessary. That 1.5mm is at the 12 fret and the action should be pretty close to flat up and down the neck. I was just playing my EBMM Axis the other day. I gave it a little truss rod adjustment. Might try another turn. I was surprised how slanted the neck is. Very noticeable just by looking at the side fret markers. Probably shimmed pretty well. I've never taken the neck off and it came straight from the factory. So EB did it. But I'm used to looking at my USA Strealth which the neck sits pretty straight in the pocket. Axis was noticeably tilted. What's my point? Sometimes ya gottsta shim.

What's the measurement of that nut shelf? Just in case it really is shallow.

    I'm at 1.9mm at the 12th fret.

The nut shelf is roughly 3.25mm deep.
