    The fact Churches arenít taxed.

Iíd consider the act of supporting any organization that isnít supporting the economy in which they operate, counterproductive right now.

If you were working there to put food on the table youíd consider that essential.

Going to church does not put food on the table, nor is this even about the the people employed by the church. You tried to make it about that, by the fact you brought up that you could buy groceries online as opposed to in a store. So, I guess those employees are as disposable or conversely, as essential as the organ player at St. Christopherís?

This is about people feeling, again, like their rights are being infringed upon.

The only places that are essential are the places I want to go.

supporting a charity is counterproductive right now? Nice theory. I'll make sure to let the seniors that we keep out of flat out poverty and the food banks that we keep running that we're gonna have to shut down that counterproductive stuff.

yup. This is the issue. And this is the trap that he has set out. He wants the non churchgoers to have to argue that "insert place here" is more essential than church.

Are you saying all those collections go directly to the food banks they are running?

Is Daily Bread going to shut down? Seaton House? How are they doing? Are they holding masses to up the influx of cash?

Churches arenít the sole supporters of food banks and the homeless, either. People can donate to those foundations and shelters directly and most do.

So, is it about the workers at the churches or the right for you to be able to go to church?

Because earlier in the shutdown it was just about the right for you, the individual to go to church.

The world is working diligently, albeit imperfectly, on a solution to this crisis. The United States and the rest of the world are focused on relief and recovery, but I hope leaders around the world recognize the need for and act on essential systemic economic reform. I also hope individuals and communities come to realize that a lot of what we deem as essential is superfluous at best.

In the United States of Americaís itís a right for everyone. You, me, the mailman and his Muslim friend.

You can rationalize it how you want. Itís gonna happen.

For you to say itís not essential is a slap in the face to a fair amount of folks. You donít seem to get the fact that sure, you can zoom a service or whatever but a lot of it is service and fellowship.

I would love to attend lodge with my Masonic brothers and engage in philosophical discussions on esotericism but its not essential or practical, right now. So, I find contentment in having those discussions on Zoom.
