19 MS-13 gang members indicted in 'medieval-style' California slayings were in country illegally, officials say

    1 hour

Nearly all of the members and associates of an MS-13 gang charged in the “medieval-style” slayings of seven people in California were in the country illegally, officials said.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles charged 22 people linked to a subset of the vicious gang that's known as the Fulton clique, members of which are suspected in nearly 200 crimes in several states over 9 years, according to a federal indictment released Tuesday.

"We have now taken off the streets nearly two dozen people associated with the most violent arm of MS-13 in Los Angeles," U.S. Attorney Nick Hanna said.

Of the 22 defendants, 19 had entered the country.illegally in the past three or four years, according to Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office in Los Angeles.

Federal prosecutors allege the suspects operated in the San Fernando Valley, an area that recently absorbed an influx of young immigrants from Central America.

"Under the influence of these young gangsters, younger associates who wanted to become members of MS-13 were 'required to kill an MS-13 rival or someone perceived to be adverse to MS-13 to be initiated into MS-13,' according to the indictment," the U.S. Attorney's Office said Tuesday.

"In Los Angeles, a clique added new members through an initiation ritual known as 'jumping in,' during which several existing MS-13 members beat up a prospective MS-13 member for 13 seconds while the shot caller counted aloud for 13 seconds," the indictment read. "Beginning in 2017 in Los Angeles, MS-13 members who identified with '503' had been required" to murder a rival or other enemy of the group.

Authorities said "503" represents the sub-group of MS-13 and is the telephone country code for El Salvador.

The brutality involved in some of the alleged killings was also disclosed in graphic detail by authorities. Four of the killings took place in Angeles National Forest. The slayings were carried out using machetes, bats and knives, according to the indictment.

In one case a member of a rival gang who had been believed to have defaced MS-13 graffiti was targeted and had his heart cut out of his chest, authorities said.

On March 6, 2017, the victim, identified as “J.S.,” was driven to Angeles National Forest, where six MS-13 gang members attacked him with a machete, killing him, the indictment claimed.

“The victim was dismembered and his body parts were thrown into a canyon after one of the defendants allegedly cut the heart out of the victim’s body,” a news release from Hanna’s office said.

"Taking violent offenders off the street should send a message to MS-13 members and their associates that medieval-style violence and senseless murder will not be tolerated in Los Angeles," said Paul Delacourt, assistant director in charge of the FBI's Los Angeles field office.

Hanna released photos showing MS-13 members displaying a machete, gang signs and guns in various poses.

Sixteen of the 22 people indicted are charged in connection with six slayings, which officials said were so "heinous, cruel or depraved" that the defendants are eligible for the death penalty. Prosecutors have not said whether they intend to seek capital punishment, however.

All 22 of the alleged MS-13 members and associates are in custody. Eighteen had been apprehended during the last year on a range of federal and state charges, authorities said. Three were arrested in recent days in the Los Angeles area by a task force that included FBI agents, Los Angeles police officers and Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies. Another alleged MS-13 affiliate was arrested over the weekend in Oklahoma.

Authorities also filed two more cases under seal against juvenile defendants in federal court.

"The collaborative law enforcement effort solved several murder cases and dealt a severe blow to members of the gang who engaged in acts of brutality not seen in the region for over 20 years," Hanna said.

WHAT THE MEDIA WON'T TELL YOU ABOUT THE 'SEND HER BACK' CHANT
No, this was not a bunch of racist rednecks sounding off about a minority lawmaker
    Jul 18, 2019 7:59 AM
    By Tom Elliott

Let’s get one thing out of the way: Chanting “send her back” is odious, no doubt.

If you’ve somehow missed the last 12 hours of news, President Trump last night gave a rally in Greenville, N.C., where he began laying into “The Squad,” the four far-left lawmakers whom he’s been sparring with all week: Reps. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).

When Trump began listing off negative things Rep. Omar had said about the United States, the rowdy crowd began chanting, “Send her back!” Trump did not appear to acknowledge the chant and continued with his remarks.

The media is already turning this into something about race, which it’s clearly not.

What makes Rep. Omar unique isn’t her skin color (there are plenty of black lawmakers on both sides of the aisle), but how unusually rude and ungrateful she is as an immigrant. First generation immigrants are typically among the most patriotic Americans. Yet Omar’s virtual every comment is an attack on the country that welcomed her, offered her a place of peace and security, provided her the opportunity to achieve her dreams.

The average American loves their country and believes being an American is a privilege. Omar seems to view America as a blight, being American an embarrassment.

As a quick refresher: Rep. Omar frequently describes Americans as ignorant, racist, and xenophobic; she’s mocked Christianity and the idea America is a “great” country, even accusing the U.S. of committing human rights abuses; she’s claimed Jewish interests control U.S. foreign policy; likened the United States to al Qaeda and Hezbollah; blamed the U.S. for the crisis in Venezuela; specifically avoided denouncing ISIS/al Qaeda; spoken favorably of Iran, and suggested she’s more patriotic than her conservative critics.

Imagine inviting a new neighbor into your home, offering them food, friendship, and assistance, only for that person to begin lecturing you about all of your imperfections, about how that neighbor who keeps stealing from you actually has a good point, about your best friends across the street actually being evil people, and about how your home won’t be very nice until he/she guts it and builds something entirely new in its place. At some point you might be tempted to tell this person to take a hike.

Chanting “send her back” isn’t an attack on Omar’s race or even an attack on immigrants. It’s an expression of anger about an immigration policy that pays no mind to whether applicants actually appreciate the country that’s welcoming them.

Another point is about the media’s role in all of this. With the exception of a few small conservative outlets, no major news outlet has reported on what appears to be Omar’s well-documented abuse of the system. When these bigger outlets ignore a story about someone in power flagrantly abusing the law, they get pissed. Why, for example, has CNN dedicated more resources toward doxing creators of Trump memes than they have a politician committing tax/immigration fraud? Again, people react to all of this with anger, whether that’s healthy or not.

So, no, there’s no excuse for chanting about deporting an American citizen. There’s also no excuse for completely ignoring that context in which the chant occurred, as that will only make the situation worse.

Sane Americans know that chanting send her back has nothing to do with race or religion. Its about people in congress with a failed approval rating for half a century who are anti-American, anti-semitic, pro jihadist, communist, divisonist, and unelectable in 96% of the rest of the country.

    Doesn't bother me one bit.

As the article stated, this woman was welcomed to the USA as she fled a shithole (yep, I said it) country with her family.

Instead of being grateful that she escaped from there she doubles down on the America hate and trashes our country.

Fuck her, she can go back to where she came from as far as I'm concerned.

And before the usual suspects get up in arms and call me a "racist" two of my favorite runners of all time are from Kenya and Eritrea and have similar stories. Meb Keflezghi and Bernard Lagat have both represented the USA in the Olympics, and Meb won the Boston Marathon the year after the bombings. Both have talked about how grateful they are to have become American citizens, and Meb's story is similar to Omar's in that he came here as a refugee when he was 12.

Those are the kind of immigrants we need, and those are the kind of immigrants I respect.

    I have none for Omar.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

I don't attribute anything to her skin color. She really has no like for America. Not how it currently is constructed or how it was constructed. She finds many faults to its government and policies and wants to eradicate them more to what she believes is right. A belief that is not typical of the vast majority of Americans. Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or undecided. She is an immigrant so she came her of her own choosing. She applied for American citizenship of her own choosing but now is pissed at the country that gave her an opportunity.

So to me she is not really different than lets say Jane Fonda who despised her country and mounted AA guns pointed at American planes. Last time I checked Jane was white. She like some others at various times made statements that pissed off a lot of people. The popular narrative is "America love it or leave it." Said to Jane, the Dixie Chicks, Suisan Sarandon, Rosie O'Donnell, etc A lot of them are white. No different than various immigrants who were anarchists in the late 1880's and early 1900's. Or you can say the same about Communists or Facists here in the 30's wanting to change the government. All these people were white. If they simply were protesting the New Deal or Prohibition, well I don't think the same venom would have been given to them. However they wanted to change the fabric of America from the government.

That's what she and others want. So since she is an immigrant if she feels its so bad here and oppressive well go back. Or go somewhere else.

I don't understand why people flock to come here yet don't want to embrace what has made this country what it is. If I went to Sweden, I surely wouldn't be asking them to change to fit my political beliefs.

Anyway I don't view this any different than "America love it or leave it" Its just that she is black and from Africa. So its now racist.

If this was 1984 she was white from the USSR, hated capitalism and this happened at a Reagan rally, nobody would have said it was racist.
