Default Will Wolfgang get a solo on this tour?

Seeing that Wolf is working on a solo album do you think he will get a spot on this tour to do a solo song?

I think it could be a possibility and give him a good heads up on this new album.

    Not gonna happen.

i would doubt it. And I'd be ok with removing all solos from the tour to be honest and throwing in a couple more deep cuts.

Don't think so. I think one of his contingencies to joining way back in '05 or '06 was that he didn't want to do a bass solo. Granted that was 10 years ago, but it just doesn't seem like his style.

Unless he's worked up a cool bass-centric instrumental piece to jam with Pops and Uncle Al. I could possibly see that.

Wolfgang himself in the 08 Guitar World article says to his dad, "Don't make me do it" in regards to a bass solo. I dont think he wants any part of it.

I wasn't thinking a bass solo, I was thinking one of his new songs from his record.

I was hoping not! I wouldn't mind hearing a family jam ala Baluchitherium or something along those lines though. I think Wolf know's his place isn't a spotlight position like it was when Mike was in the band.

They should let him do "Eagles Fly," every night of the tour.

Keep Ed's and Al's solos, I am taking my son to his first VH concert and those 2 solos are essential for a VH Concert Virgin.
I can live without a bass solo in any concert that Billy Sheehan isn't a part of.

To me, all solos are unnecessary unless you're an elite player. Just good for piss breaks, given my age I might need 3 solos, lol.

Ironically, Wolf could probably come up with a killer solo spot:

Start out on Bass, we know he's got the chops & then some.
Then move over to the drums, and do a brief solo there.

I think the fans would like it & be introduced to the Wolf we know & love.

The only problem is the lack of image or visual flair.

Mike was the "ordinary guy" in VH, yet he was a spectacle on stage,
and a real ham during his solo.

I can't see Wolf performing like that.

I think it's possible that Wolf gets a solo song spotlight on this tour. Think about it... Papa Edward is over the moon with his only son's musical talents and gifts. He's even mentioned it in a major guitar publication and at the Smithsonian event. Those things were basically to focus on Ed/Eddie/Edward, yet he specifically made a point of bringing Wolf's new album into it.

There's no doubt in my mind that Ed, and Uncle Alex would be happy to show off a new tune of his. Hell, they might even be on the new album with cameo appearances.
Plus, it would satiate Wolf's desire of not wanting to do a traditional bass solo. We all suspect that Dave isn't going to veto the idea, at the risk of his remaining VH career...

    It could happen.
When Steve Vai joined Whitesnake, his solo guitar spot was morphed into "For the Love of God" (which the rest of the band played as well), to help hype the Passion and Warfare album.
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - a very wise fan.
