I don't know about you but I really don't need to hear anything good or bad about 2004 or even post. You want to know why he is out of the band. He played in The Other Half with Sammy. He pissed off the guy who controls the band who happens to have some issues. Simple. I don't really care about his take on playing with Vic or even Joe. Its not interesting nor is it anything we don't know.

Now if he would discuss how it was to be in VH from the day he joined up until maybe the end of a good run like 5150? Sure I am all in. Would love to hear a level headed, non opinionated view of what really happened. Not from Dave, Alex, Eddie or Sammy. From Mike. How was it jamming with them the first time? Whos idea was it for the walking bass line at the end of Beautiful Girls? Did he do it or did Ted mention it would be cool? What are his best signature bass lines? What is his most embarassing moment in VH? What is his worst work? What did he think of who they should get when Dave left? DId he ever mention playing trumpet on a VH album?

2004 has been done to death like Lindsay Lohans snizz.

I wish I knew less about the inner workings of this band than I do, so I have no interest in any more tell-alls from this band.

None of them really ever talk about the stuff I would be interested in, the creative process behind some of the greatest rock music ever made. DLR spent his whole book pontificating about anti-Semitism and fucking strippers and The Go-Go's, and Sam spent a few hundred pages telling me how great he is.

(Yes, I realize I am generalizing, we don't need more book reviews). I don't think Mike is going to get into writing about the writing sessions for Fair Warning, so I really have little interest.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    1997

POP: Why is it that Michael Anthony is only mentioned in the book like two or three times? Is he, to quote Derek Smalls from Spinal Tap, 'like luke warm water'?

DLR: I grew up in a family with parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc., who weren't happy unless they were completely miserable. Ed Van Halen and his brother are cut from the same stone. Somebody always has to be under their thumb. Mike Anthony has always played that part because I refused to.

POP: Is he the 'yes man' of the band?

DLR: Very much so. He doesn't come from the background of 'I'm not afraid to get in your face.' I been places with my face you wouldn't go with a Glock, okay? My best pal in jujitsu is Greg. Sniper on the Florida Swat Team. 6'4 and huge. He says, 'Hey, ya wanna hear some war stories? Remember that guy who kidnapped the bus load of retarded kids? I'm the one who capped him. Three hundred meters with a Honeywell scope.' And I said, 'What kind of gun did you use?' Michael doesn't have that facility. He doesn't question. Which is great, but you can't school somebody into invincibility. So like the current bass solo where he rolls around on stage and makes like he's a cheetah, I invented that solo for him back in 1980 because he couldn't really play something articulate musically. Which is fine. Never held me up. So I said, 'Okay, now you are a professional wrestler, now you're a machine gunner, now you're a desert rag,' and what have you. But he's always been under the thumb of Ed Van Halen. Now again, I have an immense ego. My whole strategy is based on: I like you. I hope ya love me. I hope ya love everything I do. And this is what I do, Frank. If ya love what I do, tell a friend. If you don't, tell an enemy, 'cause I'm still gonna be here tomorrow.

yeah that's exactly what I wanna hear from these 4 guys, details and stories from touring and recording 6 iconic albums. They rarely touch on that stuff.

I think that's probably the stupidest thing, I've ever seen Dave, say.

What it is with these two guys, and their complete denial, of the man's talent?

Mike recorded more than 6 albums while in VH . I'm sure there would be neat stories from each album and tour, although I bet many of his happier tour memories are from the 5150 tour onward ... He's pretty much said so himself .

Stories about the recording of the albums I'd be interested in.

I'll have to disagree with you there. Mike himself has always said that the original four changed the world of rock and can never be replicated. Unless they are the four greatest actors of all time, I think for the majority of the time they were having the times of their lives from 1978 through 1983. Just look at the photos of the band from that period, I think the animosity is way over blown. If it isn't, they should get Oscars for pretending to have fun with all the strippers, drugs, and debauchery.

They got sick of one another, it happens when you spend the majority of your time with someone. A large percentage of marriages fail, and they had a four way marriage that lasted ten years.

Actually I imagine they all had more fun on he first few tours. Just for the simple fact they were not juggling between being married and touring Sodom and Gomorrah. When people started to get married, then crap went downhill. You know how it was when you were in your 20's and somebody got married. You sort of keep different lives. Probably happened in the band. Then somebody goes Yoko by trying to prop up their hubby.

I am sure the first three tours were riots.
