    Default UK / Europe leg?

I know I ask this everytime, and my heart already knows the answer...sigh...

    but
has there been the slightest rumour of any dates outside the US this time around - especially England?

You fans over there deserve at least one show in England. Do you think they could sell out one or two shows at the O2? Then maybe a show or two in Italy and Germany?

I don't know, without a studio record it seems unlikely.

There's only 30 something dates on this tour. They could do a mini Europe tour if they wanted.

If not now they better do it when they have a new record. It's not like they're gonna play a fifty dates over their. It's not much and they could do it fairly easily.

    41, actually.

And, yes, Europe deserves a run of shows from Van Halen as they have waited long enough.

Agreed, although I don't see it happening .
At least Australia and Japan got some special gigs last time out .

I think they could do one night at the o2. Personally, I would love to see them at the Hammersmth Apollo (capacity 5K)

Van Halen don't tour Europe, it's in their contract, look it up. Section 3 "Tour locations", sub sections 5 "Fuck those guys".

    Why fight it? Haha

Wolf has been pretty good about the online fan requests for deep cuts . Maybe he'll help remind pop and uncle that Europe needs a visit ?

Its kind of interesting that people from Europe and here in Australia always seem to go on about how no one knows VH in both continents but yet they expect them to tour there...

Its actually got nothing to do with the band, its the promoters. It like Rush and Australia. They have never been here (and probably never will) but I'm sure they would love to come down here, but no promoters have ask them so they dont come here. Sucks but thats how it is.

I think I gave up all hope to see them ever again a couple of years ago. Back in 2007, I thought maybe they'll do a world tour, but after the tour had started and no new dates came up outside of the U.S. and Cananda, I realized they'll never cross the big pond again. So, I'm not holding my breath this time around.

Still, I'm glad I had the chance to see them in '98 with Gary. It was only a shortened set at a festival, but seeing the band live for the first time was quite an experience for me.

But major industry players here in the UK (ie Andy Copping, festival booker for Download Festival and promoter for Live Nation) have more than expressed an interest in booking VH - they've made actual offers (as far as I know) which have been turned down by the band / its management team...So, what does that tell you?

A well known promoter told me its not going to happen unless VH drop their fees or venue expectations - too much risk for promoters to claw back a profit with unknown demand..

    Beat me to it.

It's all about the money. VH is more popular here, and can make more per show. Add in travel costs and the fact that they are in their 60's and you have them not touring much outside North America.

The one that puzzles me is why they ignore South America. Classic and hard rock bands go down there and play to bigger crowds there than they do up here in the US and Canada. Rush played to the biggest crowds of their career down there, and those fans go NUTS at a show.

And I would not underestimate the simple fact that they were embarrassed by the low interest level in VH back in 1995 in Europe. This band is like an elephant, they never forget a perceived slight.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
