Default Benefit Concert San Fran, complete video

I've only heard audio of this show and the only video performance was of BOBW. Here it is in its entirety, FINALLY.

    Some notes:
Cool to see Ed play the piano up close.
Great to hear Ed sing a backing vocal alone. (LWN)
During Right Now, the video gets out of sync.

    Hope you all enjoy.

that was nice. I had a chance to buy this on VHS back in like 96 or so and I passed on it....wish I had picked it up then cause up until just a few months ago the video was pretty hard to find.

    That's a really cool video !
I've seen most of it before , but it's always fun to watch . It takes a lot of musical maturity to perform those songs in that setting .

The level of talent during that era was off the charts . Ridiculous amount of musicianship .
    Thanks for posting the clip

I bought the whole show on VHS in 94.
This is way better quality than that VHS that was going around.

I could have gone to this show too but didn't know about it till i saw a clip on the news that night.

This performance is very cool so I fixed the video sync problem during "Right Now" and corrected the aspect ratio back to its original 4:3. I love HD just as much as the next person but dislike when an OAR of 4:3 is stretched out to 16:9 making everything short and wide.

I thought for along time after seeing this that this was the last time Sam and Ed were onstage together before things went to shit between them. I know Sam wrote about this in his book and how Ed was just hammered and this and that but they look like they are just on the same page and to me I think that's what it will always be, it's such a contrast when you watch the early promo stuff they did for Balance.

we all love love the electrified raw power of Van Halen but its also great to see the simplified and broken down energy of a piano and voice collaboration , great to view happier times when Ed and Sam were enthralled with each others musicianship and had genuine love and respect with each other, even if they never write together or perform on stage I sincerely hope they can rekindle a friendship , life's to short for holding resentments and ill will burning inside

If Ed watched this, you can't tell me he wouldn't get an urge to play these tunes again. Best of Both Worlds...just a great tune. I'm fine with Van Halen staying as is, but man, if they could just be friends again, so we could get a couple of one-off concerts or something, that would be awesome.

Completely agree with the sentiments here!

Eddie has even mentioned very recently that the second era has some great music. Wolf grew up in that era too, so it's probably just as ingrained in his DNA. The level of musicianship was off the charts high at that time. The Sammy tunes WILL get played again, IMO.

Like Sambora described the heyday of Bon Jovi , when he and Jon were on hiatus -"No matter what, we'll be back. It was just too big and too good..."
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
