No DLR Press for VH Live At Tokyo Dome?

No DLR Press for VH Live At Tokyo Dome release?

DLR's is conspicuous by his absence.

Not even a mention of the new album or a VH link from his site: http://www.davidleeroth.com/

Unless this was EVH's turn for press junkets.
What do they do now... Draw straws for each album and then take turns?

Even with the vocal complaints... I never expected him to just hide out (aside from the 2 TV appearances) and say nothing about the album.

    Mmmmm... your thoughts?

To be fair, he was quite vocal during the two television appearances, while Ed
    let him have the spotlight.

    It is odd, though.

It's interesting that Ed has become a bit more of a chatterbox.
There have been some interesting interviews, where he kinda just
    speaks in the moment.

It is sort of curious .
Dave is usually the first one to talk about and hype up a new VH release . With the tv appearances already done , and the tour countdown underway , I'm surprised we haven't heard from him .

Just because the official website is down , there's other ways for Dave to communicate with us . Even in that new GW issue , Eddie gushes about Tokyo and the band in general .
There's no shame (apparently) about the new album or vocals given off . Roth's silence is really perplexing ...

Well, his entire DLR media down (twitter, Facebook, dot com, etc.) lead me to believe it was a legal issue. I figured he had content on the Roth shows that he might have not had permission to use and someone froze his entire media to investigate, etc.

Dave not being in the water promoting the album despite the sharks is indeed a bit curious.

He certainly ran a lot of the press on the last tour. I'm sure he arranged the Cafe Wha? event. He was on several radio shows, tv programs and they were definitely filming all of the cool B&W history of Van Halen type vids with himself Ed And Alex at Dave's studio at Henson I believe. I hope those vids are included on some future bluray or boxset. They were really interesting.

Maybe he's just concentrating on physically training and practicing for the tour and asked Ed to front the press for them.

I don't understand so much with this band. You'd think that with this being the first and only live product of any kind with one of the most celebrated frontmen in rock history there would be some kind of sit down interview with him about it. But nope.

Well, it seems Dave told us the answer in 2013. They believe that disappearing helps them.

David Lee Roth Says Van Halen Are Avoiding Overexposure

    05/02/2013

(Classic Rock) It may come as a surprise, but Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth believes there's a limit to how much exposure his band should get.

During a recent TV show he explains his theory that their appearances should be like James Bond movies. He says: "Those first 15 years you tour constantly. You're everywhere.

"Now we're on what I call the James Bond schedule. James Bond movies only come out every three years or so. It's been around so long and it's so familiar that, any sooner and its, 'What did he just do?'"

In the full show Roth explains that his house in Pasadena is just about his only example of rock'n'roll excess when it comes to possessions, saying: "I've been here the length of the Van Halen career. A lot of folks in my position like things and stuff – an Italian sports car with a six-syllable name and an Italian trophy wife with a five-syllable name. This was the one material thing that I bought."
    http://www.antimusic.com/news/13/May...exposure.shtml

He lays it out here, during one of his best interviews of the modern era, with that yummy Drop Dead Legs girl who gets a great interview out of Dave by flirting, laughing, wearing a tight dress, and being generally excited and excitable:

Pussy Galore Ruined David Lee Roth's Life

    David Lee Roth "Revealed"

Although, it is hard not to wonder about other reasons laying behind the overexposure philosophy.

A band agreement? Ed upset at DLR's Rolling Stone Feb 2013 interview, in which he publicly vented his frustrations (Eddie won't write new songs, won't bring Mike back)?

    http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne...uture-20130212

OK, Dave, no tour and making millions unless no pre-tour interviews. Looking at the 2013 timeline, the Rolling Stone comments are from February, the Reelz interview from April, and the article about overexposure from May. The former may well have led to the later. Damage control.

Also, I saw a Sony notice on his most recent Roth Show video at the time his social media went down, so copyright infringement may have been at issue. Who knows?

It's a live album...not much to talk about. Live records, generally, aren't something you go out of your way to talk about. Meaning, doing interviews about it and the like. They did the TV to promote it. That's really all that was needed.
If it was a studio record, different story, he'd have tons to talk about.

Once the tour draws near I'm sure he'll comment on it.

Or just perhaps Ed is doing the most stuff so far because he has been the most non vocal person in the band since 2007 and he is using this as a way of rebuilding a legacy that took a huge hit going back to 2004 or even 1996 for that matter.
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

The press thing kinda ties in with the Smithsonian.

I think that meant a great deal to him, and because of it, he's more chatty than usual.
Maybe he hopes interviewers will bring it up.

It was an awesome honor, and he's been on a roll lately.

Roth seemed in good spirits for the TV appearances.
Things did not seem strained, so maybe he's just laying low pre-tour.

Not strained? Roth seemed extremely strained, with that unfortunate freaked-out clenched smile. Ed seemed apart (kinda like the 1984 tour) and like he was repressing discomfort and embarrassment over Roth.

    Freaked out:

    Forced happiness:

    Neck about to explode:

    Nervous happiness:

Ed does not even look at me:

Dave did not do the straining, hyper-smile all the time back in the day:
