    Default NGD. Les Paul traditional

So just for the hell of it I was at ken Stanton and bought a cherry burst 2015 les Paul traditional. Over all seems pretty nice. The g force tuning system is a little weird but hey it works.

I'd love an LP w/G Force, for those times when I want to play "Kashmir," or some other Zeppelin tune.

Nice one. What a heavy beast huh? I just picked this 2014 Traditional up yesterday. I tried the 2015 but for me, the new neck width was too much. Here's mine in tobacco.

nice. Yeah it's almost like holding a baseball bat for a neck and yeah. It's heavy. Said fuck it and chose that one over the weight relieved ones.

Neck is the hardest thing to get used to.

I hear ya! When I got my 2013 Trad, it took a long time to get used to the neck....I'm used to slim, 60's style necks, so it was a change...after playing it lots, though, it got to be very comfortable, to the point I don't notice the thickness anymore...Obligatory pic:

It looks like you've done some of the same mods I've done to my 2009 Trad - amber switch cap, witch hat knobs etc. I like the older Trad for the ability to make cosmetic tweaks and get it closer to a '59 look. I had to change the plasticware on my LP because at that time, Gibson seemed to be using slight pink tint in the creme - it was really ugly, and it looks better now.

My latest mod, as of last night, was swapping the pups from the 57 Classics to Duncan Antiquities. So far, I'm really impressed with them. The 57s are a nice pup, but the Antiquities have a much more vocal quality to them. Probably more like the Burstbucker.

The other thing I did last night was take care of something that's bothered me for the five years I've had this guitar: It's always had a dead spot around the 13th fret, so bends on the top two strings would choke out. I finally got around to fixing that while the guitar was stripped down for the pup swap. I have to say, I wasn't that impressed with the PLEK setup they go on about. When I got the guitar I had to spend a lot of time getting the nut slots right, and this dead spot shouldn't have been there. Anyway, between the pups and the fretwork, this guitar has really come alive.

As it happens, I was in New York last week and played one of the new Trads. They're quite a different beast to the older model in lots of ways.

Anyway, here's a pic of mine:

I tell ya, the more I play this guitar the more I love it. The 1959 pickups in this thing are sweet as hell. Very well rounded. My LP custom doesn't even come close to this tone. It really is blowing my mind.

That said, I still haven't figured out how to change strings with the g-force thing and the way the pegs lock. But realistically I only change strings about once a year.
