I don't think anyone says or believes that WVH made the call about Mike.

Call him, not me, motherfucker (i believe were his words).

You have this working relationship with this guy, became huge stars, later you

No doubt. If this did happen, it just leads more to the perception that Ed holds a lot of pent up animosity towards Dave. What ever Dave did to Ed (in Ed’s perception) was bad enough that he’s never fully going to get past it. Ed seems like the type of person who needs the “I am sorry for xyzz. Your the soul of this band and I should have treated you better back in the day.”

Seems silly at this point in their lives, but the human psyche is fascinating. And To be fair, Dave’s out there and always has been. Always wanted to know what the world looks like through his eyes! One minute, “VH is a team all the way.” To “This is about ME man, not your fucking hip.” Not really same context buttons point is they both have inssues. They survive, what 3 tours together with Ed saying publically “Dave does not want to be my friend.” Dave said nothing in response to this that I am aware of, yet the show went on.

    Very strange dynamics.

It almost makes it sound like being in a huge band is a business and not a bunch of buddies just hanging out together.

I wonder if when Dave dies, Ed would post something diplomatic:

He was a difficult man, but also an extremely creative man.

Don't forget that as far as we know, Ed was a right mess at the time he told Dave to call Wolf. He wasn't sober, so his actions were probably not they way he would react today, many years sober, happy etc. I don't think Ed was in a good place in many ways at that time, and the tour, getting the band back together, getting out and playing, Janie etc. probably saved him. Just my opinion, but it would certainly explain why he would act like such as dick, when so many people have said that he's such a sweetheart in general.
Does the noise in my head bother you ?

I get the feeling that Ed told Dave to call Wolf with a bit of a smile on his face, not a sneer, but I'm always an optimist when it comes to their relationship.

Well, whatever information comes from the VH Camp regarding Dave's, "Passing", I'm sure it will come from Kody. And judging by my findings, Kody and Dave probably didn't hang out all that much. So........

To me this is not strange and TOTALLY makes sense through the lens of DLR. I was grateful for the Sammy years and enjoyed them at the time but love the DLR years. Whilst I was Ed centric, Ive always loved Daves role in VH. Dave is not a GREAT singer. He is a good showman but for mine his real value to VH was always in two main areas. Lyrics & business acumen/marketing and I feel that is what propelled VH from the clubs to greatness (obviously along with Eds chops and Daves swagger). Those two quotes jar when taken literally but when taken in Daves context, they make sense. Everything is about the band. The whole "Tonight is about me, not your hip" thing I feel was always totally misunderstood. For Dave, everything is another show and an opportunity and THAT MOMENT, after so long, at the MTV awards in front of so many fans was a gold plated opportunity to seal the deal. I dont believe that Dave is actually saying there that its "about me" but more the obvious "Its about me.....being here......with you.....after so long.....after so many people have wanted it......with so many people watching willing to monetize it....lets not talk about what could stop this." And of course he was 100% right in that context. He of course couldnt know at the time that it was already buried with Gary ready in the wings.
