VH Live, Norway, 1993: KILLER footage

Stumbled across this footage from Norway, 1993. Not-quite pro shot, but the footage is great, and the sound is even better. The band is firing on all cylinders, and Sammy sounds fantastic here. Enjoy!

    Yes !!!
I've seem some of the footage before and it's great .

Nice playing and a lot of energy . Speaking of energy , watch Eddie's live guitar solo ... he does about five of those 'flying Eddie' jumps in a row

This stuff should also be released one day IMO .

^^^ I meant Ed's live 'Eruption' solo , for those who have watched the whole gig ...

The clip above shows the tune 5150 , picking up mid way through the guitar solo . It's another extended jam an it's a smokin' mo-fo .
Loved the band on this tour !!!

You should check out the 5150 song solo from 4/9/93 in Stockholm....unreal shit...probably the best version I have heard yet. Runs run and more runs...he was playing like he had something to prove....wonder if Yngwie was there...he was from Sweden.

Is that the fan club set they did? Can't watch Youtube where I am currently located.

    If yes, that is KILLER.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    That's what I thought too .

Thanks for posting the vid . I love when more fans of this era chime in here
Also , footage like this is exactly why I'm hooked on the EBMM guitars that Eddie designed . Still my favorite body style of his signature axes !

This footage is exactly why I can't understand that everyone bashes Sam. He kicked ASS! This was my favorite tour of the Van Hagar Years. I saw them in Tinley Park and it was AWESOME! This version of the band was the absolute best of any version of Van Halen musically. Fun to watch and the sound was outstanding. The Dave heads have to get real and admit that Dave is not the Dave that we knew. I just saw Sam in Naperville a couple of years ago and Sam sounds very close not exactly to 1993 vocally. Dave has lost his voice and cant even keep his own melodies. Sam keeps on Melody to his songs and all of the other band's songs he plays. Why Van Halen wasted the Live Album with Dave on the Tokyo garbage is beyond me. They should have Frankensteined something from the all the early years it would have been so much better! Dave sucks now and I will not be seeing Van Halen with him anymore, period. Get your head out of your asses Dave is ruining Van Halen's reputation as one of the great bands at this point.

91-95 was the musical peak of the band live in my opinion. I can understand people liking the earlier shows, and some of the ones in 1978/1979 if there was decent video for would maybe give the 91-95 a run for their money. DLR was on point then, and you can just feel the energy coming out of your speakers.

I think Dave is "ok" on Tokyo Dome. His voice falls into place on a few of the songs and they sound real good. There are a few train wrecks, I will grant you that, but you can't judge DLR or most other singers by Sam. Sam is a freak of nature. Think of all the singers from his generation, none of them have retained their vocals as well as him. None. And even he is now slipping, he still sounds great, but he has dropped off quite a bit from the last CF tour to the Circle, at least in my opinion.

I am just going to enjoy whatever I can get from these guys here on out. The Circle, CF, Van Halen, whatever. If DLR butchers Panama, eh, he can make it up with a great rendition of Women In Love or I'll Wait. If Sam can't hit the notes in When It's Love anymore, it's ok, I can remember when he could.

Hagar 45, Al 40, Eddie 38, Mike 39. I honestly feel this was the last year of Van Halen. All still Athletic, on top of their game. For a guy at 45, my age now to be able to sing like this night after night is truly a gift.

Both singer's primes are in the rearview mirror ...

That in no way diminishes the legacy of both guys , or the music they helped make that MILLIONS of people got off too . I'm thankful for both of them . Truly

Wow absolutely incredible. I'm always amazed by the live performances of this era. Talk about firing on all cylinders. Eddie is on fire, Mike and Al tremendous as always as Sammy's voice is simply astounding. Crazy pipes.

I just can't get over how good they sound here and basically every other live video I see of this era. (Makes it that much more perplexing why they made LRHRN the way they did- at this time, the band could have picked dozens of shows, made no edits and it would have sounded basically perfect). Chemistry seems great too, with smiles and fun interaction all around.

Someone please invent a time machine!
