Default VH songs your band has played ?

A lot of us are musicians who are , or have been , in various bands . Regardless of your instrument(s) , what songs have you played/gigged with by VH ? Preferably live although I guess we can count rehearsals too .

I'm curious as to the replies for this . No singer bashing here please !!!

Unchained and You Really Got Me.

We've tried Panama and Dance the Night Away, but I sound like shit singing them.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Default VH songs your band has played ?

Gigged with? Hmmm ok have to think back, there have been a good amount over the years.

    You Really Got Me
    Jamie's Cryin'
    Runnin' With The Devil
    Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
    Outta Love Again
    Bottoms Up!
    Mean Street
    Unchained
    Pretty Woman
    Panama
    Everybody Wants Some!!
    Romeo Delight

Oh I would also play the beginning of HAIL and then go into one of our originals.

We've rehearsed a bunch of others but over the years have only done those listed live at some point. If I count rehearsals it's a ton from the first 6 albums.

I know what you mean !

Our singer at the time liked Sam , but I wouldn't go so far as to say that he sounded like him .. LOL

Rehearsed or actually gig'd? Two different lists.

Rehearsed and ready to gig in one band
    You Really Got Me
    Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
    Girl Gone Bad
    Panama
    Hot For Teacher
    Poundcake minus the drill
    Judgement Day
    Top Of The World
Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do)
    Amsterdam
Then Singer quit and moved to Hawaii.

    New band Actually gig'd
    Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
    Unchained
Mean Street minus tapping intro which I've since learned.

I was all about the MXR reissue Flanger at the time. We played a lot of college bars and got a lukewarm reception to the college radio rock tunes we'd play. Until the VH songs. People went nuts for Mean Street and the dance floor would be packed every time! I was very surprised and that's when I decided VH needs Dave. We're talking circa 2000-2002. Maybe a bit earlier. I was playing my Peavey Archtop Wolfgang in tobacco I had to get after seeing Ed's on the Live In Sydney special. I actually got it midway through that band and got a pretty big discount on it because of the band. But that's another story

I've sung Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love live.

We've worked on Somebody Get Me A Doctor but I have trouble with that one for some reason.

Looking for another one to try. Maybe Drop Dead Legs (my choice) or Everybody Wants Some. EWS isn't one of my favorites, I like it but there's other tunes I'd rather do (Same with ATBL). Rest of the band wants to do it so we probably will.

I held back doing many VH songs for years because I've always gotten the sense from playing other songs that I would "get tired of them" if I actually learned how to play them. Something in my brain becomes less fond of songs if I can play them. I guess it's a "It can't be that great a song if I can play it". The mystery goes away or something.

But in recent years I've caved a bit. I found out that learning to play Dance the Night Away did not diminish it one bit in my mind. I still love it now matter how many times I play it.

The first one was You Really Got Me. I was playing with this older guy at the time who was playing keys and sang it Kinks style. I irritated him by playing it like VH. He couldn't hold out though...he eventually started liking the Eddie guitar stuff.

Then others followed in other bands:

    Ain't Talking Bout Love
Ice Cream Man (total faking the solo...damn that stretch!)
    Panama
    Jump

And finally Dance the Night Away recently. Still my favorite.

Let's see. Songs I have played live with various bands:

    Runnin' With the Devil
    Eruption
    You Really Got Me
    Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
    I'm the One
    Feel Your Love Tonight
    Little Dreamer
    Dance The Night Away
    DOA
    Unchained
    Panama

Songs I've rehearsed but never played:
    5150
    Humans Being
    Don't Tell Me
    Hot For Teacher
    Runaround
Poundcake (complete with an orange cordless Black and Decker drill - it does work... )
    Black and Blue
    Everybody Wants Some

I'll give Sammy this: all the Sammy stuff that I've rehearsed and had ready to go the singer always balked at doing it. Mostly because they couldn't really do it justice. We'd jam a lot of it in our drummer's garage as an instrumental but it never made it to a live performance.
