    Default New Remasters??

Ok, didn't know where to put this, Mods can move it if they want, but . . .

What's the difference in the new Remasters I'm hearing about and the ones released in, what 2001? Remixed too?

And I'd probably buy a CD of Ed pissing into an empty milk can.

I'm kinda hoping that these new remasters do not have much of a sonic difference from the 2000 CDs. Otherwise, the temptation might be too great and I'll cave and buy them.

And then I'll have 6 more dead VH CDs!

And that will prompt me to ask: "Is there a sign outside my house that says "Dead Van Halen CD Storage? NO! Because storing dead Van Halen CDs is not my fuckin' business!"

Check reviews/opinion on enthusiast audiophile web sites before making a decision to purchase. Small or "minimal" improvements in sonic quality isn't going to cut it for me. Personally, I'm growing tired of buying the same albums from my favourite bands over and over and over and over...

LP's, cassettes, CD's, Remastered CD's, SACD's, DTS surround sound CD's... Honestly, I must have the word MUG, tattooed across my forehead!!!

Who knows what the difference is going to be? The problem with Van Halen (or Ed?) is that they're probably not going to do any press the way that Jimmy Page has done for the Led Zeppelin remasters. Because of that, we probably won't find out the differences until right before their release or until afterward.

I wish that the Van Halen catalog would be not only remastered, but also remixed. I through FUCK - to include III and even ADKOT - could use a make-over, some more than others.

Then, don't store them. Most public or military base libraries that I've seen have CDs available to check out. Donate the Six Pack to them: just put 'em in a plastic bag, tape it shut, and drop them off in the after-hours book return. Share the music, don't store it.

I have the 2000 remasters. I have the 24kt gold VH1 from 1998 or whenever that was released. I also just picked up the japanese mini-LP copies of the original 6 CDs. I'm not an audiophile what I got sounds very very good. No need for these remasters. If they had bonus tracks, of course I'd pick them up….. but they won't

Yeah, I have the same CDs as well as the original LPs as they came out in the 70's and 80's and I even had the original Japanese vinyls (which I stupidly sold years ago when I stopped collecting vinyl). IMO, sonically the 2001 CD remasters are the best overall listen except the first album which I'd give the nod to the now-pricey DCC Gold disc CD and numbered LP. I expect these new remasters to maybe be a bit better for vinyl album collectors but the CD releases are either going to be very marginal improvements or significantly *different* sounding (as in brickwalled or eq'd very differently than previous CD releases).

Even as fellow fans, there are really some things that don't need to be shared relating to the band. Also, if it was Dave pissing into a can, there'd be a thread of debate as to how good or bad it sounds.

I would prefer 5150 to be remastered and the drums to be replaced with real drums instead of the electric ones.
    Right here I say....

Only if he was forcing it instead of letting it flow naturally.
