Default Sammy gives his unwanted opinion of "Tokyo"

It was only a matter of time before Sam gave his opinion on the Tokyo album. He talks about Dave's vocals but after hearing the Circle's stuff on the live video I must say that Sam isn't sounding as good as everyone keeps saying. At least it wasn't a studio album like LRHRN.

Give that "Poundcake" preview from The Circle a listen on Itunes. Hagar's vocals sounds rough in spots too and I'd bet that "live" album will be touched up before release.

Ok, this time, Sam is being a dick.

The interviewer was not even going to ask him one question about Van Halen, and Sam brought it up, unsolicited. I've defended his prior interviews, as he is just answering the questions asked, but he is just being a douche here.

I know this will be defended and I will be labeled a hater, but fuck, the man is almost 70, grow up, worry more about the fact that you have become nothing more than a cover band singer and less about Van Halen.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

You know I started off my Van Halen fandom during the Hagar era right around when FUCK came out. And then I kind of dug back from there but I like all eras of the band.

That said, I find it hard to really like Sam anymore. He just comes off as an asshole. Why not focus on your current band and what they're doing and leave all this other shit alone? No Sam, it's not "impossible to stay away from." It's very easy actually. You stick to talking about what you're doing and your band, not the one you haven't been in in over a decade.

I'm not going to defend Roth's vocals because at least from the clips I've heard there are definitely some cringe worthy moments. That said, it's not like Sam's band is above reproach. Vic's playing on Poundcake anyone?
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Sammy is bitter as fuck. I love him just as much as the next guy but when he does shit like this it ain't easy. He can say what he wants but at least this album isn't doctored. He was just as guilty as Ed and al on that one.

I thought the most interesting thing about the article was how he has a TV and radio show coming out. Sam sucks when he is trying to emulate other people's careers. Living it up (album and tour) sucked balls because he was trying to be the rock and roll version of Jimmy Buffett. Now he's going to try and be the rock and roll Emeril instead of writing tunes with Satch. Boring.

Yep. Just comes across as bitter. I'm glad that he isn't in VH anymore.

That is my biggest problem with the interview. He needs to focus on his band and their music.

'Oh my god, can these guys do anything worse to their reputation and to the level of the music of the band?

I think that Sam's constant mentioning and criticism of his former band is doing nothing but ruining his reputation. He just sounds bitter any time he talks about VH.

Sam needs to take a page out of the Mike Anthony playbook and just shut up and move on.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

I will never want a man to limit his revenue streams, but yeah, if it isn't Sam behind a mic or with a guitar, I'm not too interested.

Wonder how many times Sam will be called bitter before this thread gets closed.

Unneeded comments from Sam when he should be talking about his own shit... but no different then what half the populace here feel anyway, already. Should cause some sort of shit storm that will get under someones skin before the day is over.

Edit: Ha! 3 bitters already as I was typing.

love Sammy the singer and the songwriter. But for a guy who has everything in the world, he has a way to come off as a bitter ex. You can tell it is eating him up that his old band is playing MSG while his "better" band is playing the local casino.
