I saw a special Behind the Music with the Red Hot Chili Peppers Sunday night on VH1 and they wer showing the behind the scenes making of Blood,Sugar,Sex,Magik and they used all sorts of junk(5gal.metal bucket, hubcaps, steel wheels and assorted crap to beat on and make sounds for some of there songs.I know Eddie has used different things for sounds such as a Drill and Strumming Piano string from an old piano. But I was wondering if he used other things too like the peppers used to make sounds? Just curious?

Didn't Gary use one of those King-Dong dildo's for "Fire In the Hole" . . . I believe How Many Say I was taped while Eddie was changing Alex's dyper. Ed used a piezo pickup system on Cant Stop Loving you. He also used a DRILL for Poundcake. Ed's Lambourgini can be heard on Panama. The loud skreaching noise on Year to the day is actually Eddie yanking Gary and Mikey's balls. I'm unsure what devise they used on Sammy's nuts for his high notes in Dreams. hmm anything else?

They were throwing quarters on the board for big fat money. He used a hacksaw blade against Piano strings for the intor to not enough, forget what it's called and too lazy to pull it out.

slowed down! and also played back in reverse!

and on strung out on balance. eddie recorded that i think in 83, 84, or 85? he was at some famous dudes house or something and he scrapped a bunch of crap along his grand piano and recorded it.

If memory serves, on the 1st few albums he hooked his Marshall amp & played through a World War II bomb.

I'll have to look that up, but I'm pretty sure it was a bomb. I've got it somewhere.

    Anyone?

The Gidzilla stomping monster riff in the beginning of And the Cradle Will Rock... is actally an old Wurlitzer piano played through a Marshall stack.

I found it in an old issue of Guitar World...

He used a Univox Echo Unit in his Marshall concealed in a World War II practice bomb.

Eddie used a skipping rock/pebble for a pick on 'Primary' I believe. I think he said Wolfie found it on the beach. And they used a hot dog tied to a microphone to get Sherman growling at the end of a Amsterdam. Or maybe that was Ray Daniels

The others have put in stuff too. Didn't Dave bring in the hairdryer on Panama? I like having the quirky shit on albums.
