Just wondering, has anyone seen the track listings for the remasters? I didn't see them listed on Amazon.com or CDNOW.

I just wanted to know if the track listings are the same as the on the original CDs. I had a crazy idea last night that MAYBE Alex said no new songs on the remasters, and meanwhile they will add a new song or two on each. That would be incredible, cause ALL six cds would sell like crazy. I know I'd buy em all. THAT could be the other CD that is rumored to come out as a set, only they could be disbursed on all six remasters. Then i thought maybe they'd add a live song from each specific year to each, or a song that didn't make that particular album on each remastered CD.

    But I'm sure I'm wrong.

Has anyone seen the track listings???

It would be a helluva marketing scheme, they would ALL sell alot more than they are going to.

Unless, of course, they pop up at the MTV Awards and play "JUMP" or something and let the millions of fans other than us internet users know that the Remasters are in the stores in less than 2 weeks from 9-7-00...

I saw something recently that gave me a bit of a startle. At the HMV website www.hmv.com they show an extra track called "No Time This Time" on Van Halen II. Further study of the page shows that it's actually an error and they've blended the notes from both VH 2 and an old Police CD. But it gave me a bit of a shock when I first saw it.

Glenn: So the track listings for the remasters aren't any different from the originals?

As far as I know they're exactly the same as the originals. I would think if there were going to be extra tracks, Van Halen would want us to know that now to generate more hype and more potential sales.

Here's even more for ya the original play time of VHII is 31:55, the remaster is spec.ed out at 42:08

Don't get to excited though because they also have A&M as the original label, as we know it's always been WB.

They probably didn't add anything to the remasters, but they SHOULD have. They could have thrown 6-12 new tracks on them, and then released the new CD later on. It would have been a helluva surprise and made this wait well worth it.

Glenn: Maybe IF they did do this, which they probably didn't, they couldn't let us know, cause then it would mean Dave was definately back in, cause they couldn't add any new tracks without him. Then the announcement wouldn't be the same. If they added new tracks or added something, that would be why they wouldn't let us know til MTV...

Okay, enough of my dreaming. A little optimism is fun though. Til 9-7-00...

James, I love the thought, but they could add Angel Eyes to VH II (it was apparently considered for that album) and that wouldn't necessarily mean Dave was back in the band. I'd love to see some extra tracks, but I don't think it'll happen.

What they /b should /b do is what Aerosmith did on "Live Bootlegged." They should through in a song into the album without telling the public or listing it on the track listing to surprise everyone. I know when I heard Draw The Line live on LB it came as a total suprise to me the first time and kicked ass. By doing that, it would be a pleasent treat for all of us. Just let them throw in something rare thats all!

They really should do the Garth Brooks approach. One or two new songs on each of the 6 discs, entire box set priced under $40.Instant multi platinum sales

I know it's not the box set Glenn wants, but that one will never happen until after the Hall Of Fame induction anyway.

the van halen news desk had an interview clip w/ alex saying that they would NOT add unreleased songs to the remasters, something about album continuity or something. the lack of bonus tracks is also a lack of buying incentive.

    -----------

the doors and led zeppelin did that "all the albums plus a disc of unreleased tracks as a box set" ...then a while later the doors bonus disc was released seperately.

    vh should do that.

Eddie likes to go over old, unused material with the idea of maybe freshening it up and using it on new albums. So if they're working on an album with Dave, it stands to reason that they might want to keep that stuff under wraps in case they decide to use it.

I'm sorta torn on the idea of bonus tracks. While I'd be happy to spend $13 to have another VH tune, I'd not want to spend $70 some for 6 old tunes that are new again. It's a crappy practice in the industry, akin to putting 2 new tracks on a greatest hits cd.
