Does Ed ever use his hardtail Wolfs live?

    I don't think so
I never saw em at the two concerts I went to in 2012.

I've watched dozens of concerts throughout the whole career on the internet, and I can't say I've ever seen one used. Maybe for one song such as Secrets and Little Guitars. As a normal guitar, no.

I sort of wonder about the marketing plan for the hardtails. I've seen some for $500 and some for $1400. WTF? If you play EVH-style music, you're gonna want a Floyd. If don't, then you probably want something not so associated with EVH. At $1400 you're looking at Les Pauls, which are a ton easier to resell if necessary.

I appreciate the tuning stability of the Floyd, but have been using it less and less in my own music. I'd consider a hard tail Wolfgang one day, simply because the body shape fits my stature, the necks feel right, and the pickups are awesome. LP's are too heavy, I don't like the neck joint, I don't dig the finished neck, and I don't like the control layouts.

Basically everything I find to love Ed has chosen too. I would like to think I would still prefer these kinds of features on guitars if I wasn't a fan.

I feel the same way .
Eddie has made some great moves and breakthroughs when creating his gear .

I hate floating trems , and even set up my non-EVH guitars to dive only . Little things like the placement of the volume knob are just perfect . The 'upside down' toggle switch on his Wolfgangs just makes ideal sense to me as well . Playing a LP style feels off to me now ... Haha

I have a USA Wolfgang HT. For me, the Floyd rose is such a pain in the ass that I didn't want another guitar with one. One is enough!

I may have really awesome luck, but all of my Floyds are so easy to change strings on and maintain. We should start a Floyd tips and tricks thread...
